Hello Hello.... Just signed up, I'm looking to buy a Newage Blobeye STi, probably around an 2004/2005 year In Black!

If you know of any decent one's, please let me know

Well.. I'm Ryan.. Currently have a BMW e46 M3. Im selling my M3 to release some funds for a project and with what I have left after I will hope to pick up a decent Blobeye. (was contemplating a VW Golf R32 Mk4 also - but feel I'm 90% towards the Scooby instead!)

Will have a few plans for it.. hoping for 400bhp but i'm not too concerned about figure chasing, so anything around that should do nicely

I don't really know too much about the STi's modifications yet, but will be searching around the forum for some info and answers.

One thing I would like to ask is, what are the common/best make mods for the Blob STi and rough price for these would be great!
Im assuming this list would do 350-400ish?

- Remap
- S/S Exhaust (2.5 or 3"?)
- Decat
- Manifold
- Boost Hoses
- Stronger Actuator - Increased Boost to 22psi - Boost Controller?
- Induction Kit
- BOV/DV
- FMIC
- Injectors
- FPR
- Uprated Fuel Pump
- Turbo

Is there much of a price jump between 350 and 400bhp?

How will the Brembo's and clutch cope with this power, will they need uprating or are they good enough for 350+?

What are the best Tuners/Garages/PartShops around the NorthWest for the Scooby?

Another thing ive noticed is the JDM vs UK Spec, how can you tell the difference if an advert doesn't state as such? (besides asking the seller )

Out of that list you probably only need a decat and remap, maybe fuel pump. The stock turbo will maybe scrape 350 so upgrade that if you want 400.

I went the other way STi to M3

Sorry, clutch, gearbox etc is fine at those levels.

JDM is better. Twin scroll turbo (better torque figures at low rpm), 8000 rpm redline, more toys. Giveaway is rear wiper.

Used to have a 04 blob sti. Engine internals will Handle 400bhp.

Full de cat turbo back
Fuel pump
Panel filter
Plugs
And a good map should see 350ish

Injectors
Cold air intake
And another map will see 400. And as Dnc mentioned twin scroll jdm car is better than uk version.

seems relatively simple to get 400bhp then.. what are the best remaps EcuTek?

DNC - How do you compare the M3 to STi? What power was your Scooby?

I will if I see one, i'm not fussed whether the car is standard or modified when I buy it, but just want to get some background knowledge so I have a better idea about parts, costs, figures etc

everything on your first list is bolt on, you are then limited by engine internals which have been pushed beyond 450 and not missed a beat however it is not advised to go beyond 400, the tried and tested method for 400 is td05 20g, sti pink injectors, walbro 255, full decat 3'' exhaust, ecutek map.
Take a look on andy forrest's website pretty much everything you need to know is on ther

My STi was about 340 bhp, 330 lbft. Very modest, but still pretty quick.

Just a PPP plus remap, didnt want MOT hassles etc.

Prefer the M3 (except at the moment ). Don't get me wrong the STi is a great car and great value, just got too old for it

STi 'felt' quicker but that was just the boost kick, nothing in it I'd say. 400 bhp would be quite a bit quicker than the M3.

Good luck and happy hunting. Try to get the widetrack model (late 04 onwards IIRC), quite a bit better than earlier models and I think had the DCCD.

Did test drive a e46 m3 coupe before I got my hawk.
There totally diffrent. In standard form the m3 is faster in a straight line but no low down torque you have to rev the nuts off it.

The power delivery of the scooby makes it feel faster. But with a few mods the m3 won't keep up. Easy tuning and 4 door practicality has kept me in the sti and cheaper running costs and insurance than the m3.

DCCD = driver controlled centre diff - allows you to vary power distribution between front and rear wheels

Widetrack just has a wider axle, giving flatter cornering

Widetrack cars are 54 onwards, they have revised suspension, wider wheel track, revised hubs and wheel bearings, larger stud pattern(114pcd),
Dccd is driver controlled centre diff, switches inside the car allow you switch between gearbox settings, also benefit from larger driveshafts, larger r180 rear diff, alloy lateral link arms. These cars can be identified by there rear arch extentions and the alloys
