Water getting in to boot
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me whether they get this issue?
Seems that when car parked on hill with boot highest and we have heavy rain. Next time I am on the flat and open boot the boot floor is wet.
Is this a common problem and been raised with Subaru? Black seals around boot are all in place.
Interested to hear what people think.

can't see how this will help?
water can be seen collecting at one end of the boot, close to the bottom of the window and on top of the boot lid.
obviously if I open boot then it would all flow over the top of the rubber seal but water seems to be getting in even if the boot is not opened.

Mine has always been bad. I'm thinking of fitting a bilge pump
I keep saying I'll fit some STI rear lights (for over 5 years now) and when I do I will be sealing them up well. Fitted a new spoiler so I know that is water tight.

I had the same on my MY99 and it was the lights. If you life the boot lid and look at the top of the lights you might see a that they stand a tiny bit proud of the wings, This is a classic place for water to get into the boots of Imprezas.
Have you tried a search at all?
There are four main places where water gets into the boot:
1.Rear lights: remove and reseal.
2.Boot seal: check for water ingress after hosing it down, seal under it.
3.Under the spoiler: check and reseal.
4.Rear windscreen glass: rare, but it DOES happen: have it checked by a windscreen place if all esle fails.
Lastly, despite what you have read on here, DO NOT use silicone to seal the spoiler, lights, boot etc.
The correct stuff is Carafax, and is available from caravan dealers and some Halfords. It is non-setting, remains constantly waterproof and, most importantly, the item CAN be removed if necessary

Gutter/Roof seal is good too and widely available if you can't find Alcazar's suggestion. Probably wouldn't put it on paintwork (i.e. spoiler) just to be safe.

the rear lights leak like taps and the spoiler holes let water in to . both my scoobs have done this and both have been cured with sealing up the rear lights
Mine is a 53 and the same, was leaking from the spoiler. Took it off sealed all the holes and refitted and seems ok now. The only thing I do get is alot of condensation in the boot, any metal work is coated in it when its a cold day.
