Default Urgent tyre size question

Hi all
Can some one confirm that the recommended tyre size for 17s on a Classic
are - 215/45x17

As the last owner has been running 215/40x17 Yokahams

I take it they have been running the wrong size tyres?

As I need to fit the tyres this afternoon (215/45x17 Asymetics)

Ta
Steve

On a 17" rim, I've seen: 205/45, 215/40 and 215/45. I belive that all are acceptable. I'm currently running 225/45/17 but they're a little on the wide side and these will be repaced with 215/45/17's at some point in the future.

Weren't the originals 205/50/16 IIRC ?

If thats the case then using this TYRESAVE: Tyre Size Calculator

the nearest to the original diameter is a 215/40/17

out by 7 mm

(by the way 225/40/17 is the closet - only out by 1mm from the original)

I beleive thet should be 215/40/17 or 205/45/17. Anything else gives you the wrong rolling radius. Having said that mine has got 205/40/17 on from previous owner.

So I have just fitted 215/45/17

Will the difference between 40 and 45 - damage the car in any way?
Or am I safe to run with them.
Thanks
Steve

You will be fine with them. I've just recently changed to a 215/45, without any issue.
