Has the English Language changed so much in the year I have been in Germany or is the standard of spelling and grammer on this bbs just diabolical. Or is it that there is a new language being developed amongst the Scooby fraternity that is unique to the United Kingdom?

Cool

I think that the standard of the grammer, or grammar as I was taught, is no worse than the standard of the spelling.
It is a bit harsh to use the term diabolical, the last time I checked there was not a test you had to take before being allowed to post on here. We all know different people have differing levels of language skills, but as long as they can express there views, and some of the rest of the population can understand what they mean, I don't see any harm.
If I were to bother proof reading my posts I would never get round to doing any work. As for running a spell check, well basically I am too lazy.

I understood exacty what Rum meant and thats the main thing. I'm a big offender not because I cannot spell but because my typing skills are lacking . I can't be bothered to keep using the spell check as it uses US English and comes up with ridiculous suggestions for some words.

NickP - I thought it looked wrong but then it just goes to show that we are not all perfect.

Communication is the art of making yourself understood; for instance, LOL is a great way of abbreviating laugh out loud - it isn't in the dictionary but works perfectly well around here. The same goes for spelling - why chastise someone for spelling in posts. As long as the author gets his/her point across. I'm personally not bothered by others spelling mistakes and therefore would not like to be judged on my spelling and grammar!
(p.s. this message will definately not be edited to correct mistakes)
