MY99 rear brake upgrade farce
#1
Cross posted as getting desperate
Why is it so difficult to get uprated rear pads for the MY99? Having ordered some EBC green stuff in August, waited 10 days, only to be sent pads that were over an inch too wide, and not long enough. Argued with EBC for a week that they were not right, and that UK Imprezas had never had rear discs that diameter. They then sent more pads out, which were a bit different, but still a mile out, more arguments with EBC, claiming that there are 3 different size rear calipers on UK MY99!! Gave up on EBC, moved on to Mintex.
Mintex then sent out pre-99 pads, right size, but with two lugs instead of one. Ringing round a few suppliers, finally found the correct part number for MY99/00 rear pads, but have been on back order for 6 weeks now!!
What do I need to do to get uprated pads for the rear of my car Does anyone make any Has anyone got non-oem pads in the rear calipers of a UK MY99 Is this request *so* unusual
All help gratefully received - Am on track at Oulton Park in 2 weeks, and current OEM pads are getting very low

I had exactly the same problem when dealing with a certain company in Newcastle.
At one point I waited two weeks for the replacements to arrive, and when I rang to chase the order, I found they'ed FORGOTTEN to organise it!!!
What happens? Wrong again!
Unfortunatley I only get to find out they're wrong each time I organise the car going to my friendly garage and they try to fit them.
Which reminds me to organise my pithy letter about refund for pad costs, postage, and labour charges!

These pads are a problem.
Because so few cars (in relative terms) were made with this caliper, few companies are interested in making pads for them.
I do have a delivery of DS2000 arriving hopefully at the end of this week, but this pad is not cheap (previously discussed) at just under £100 a set.

Thanks Pete - but will ideally need to get fitted this Saturday to get bedded in for Oulton!! Do you have the Pagids in stock? or any others??
Looks like I will have to pay through the nose and get the official upgrade from the dealer!!

If Pete is going to be selling these pads at 'just under £100 a set' then the £75 + vat your dealer will charge is hardly 'paying through the nose' is it!

Thanks Mike - as mentioned in my email, a local main dealer (not my usual/supplying dealer ) quoted me £140 + fitting for MY99 rear pads
Apologies for any confusion caused!
