These are the perils of buying a 14-year old performance car. How much did you pay for it?

A wise person on here once said "cheap to buy does NOT mean cheap to run" -unfortunately. I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.

An oil leak and it needs a crank shaft i'd take it to one of the subaru specialist on here mate or someone who knows subaru's, it might not be that bad. good luck anyway, and wellcome

As scoobychrissy said take it to a scooby specialist (look on here for recommendations).
Ask the garage why it needs a rebuild from an oil leak then speak to someone like David at Welcome to the API website as he knows what he's doing (i don't think i've ever seen any complaints about his work)

mate i'd take the advice of scoobycrissy on this one. cant really see how they could know u need a new crank from an oil leak.
common thing on the early scooby's is the cam seals going.
just throwing a thought at you and i'm prob wrong but could it be that or something similar?
i dont know it all but will help if i can mate

welcome fella. unfortunate news regards the crank. can i ask whereabouts your based in the country? plenty of specialists dotted around, and if you gave us a rough location, could point you in the right direction.
