Default SAUNAs Any good for loosing weight?

Was having a converstion with someone yesterday, that claimed that saunas are a very good way of loosing weight through sweating it off.

Just wondered if there was any truth in this, and if so how effective are they?

Sorry if this is a bit of a silly question

i am guessing that you would have to stay in it for around 6 months to have any major effect..
though your pores will be lovely and clean

I wondered this, surely you'd just put it on again next time you have a drink though!?!

I know boxers do it before weigh-ins...

Dont you just lose water I know boxers and jockeys do it to sweat off a load of water just before a weigh in

You'd lose body water....but as said, you'd only put it back on when you have a drink.

Beer has been replace with Vodka and Diet Coke, not bad when you get used to it.

Joining gym next week, so should see some more good results from that

In a word yes have always gone to the gym but that has usually been offset by a weekend on the beer and then greasy kebabs. Now I have a few g+t's and dont have any kebabs . You can have 3 gin and tonics for every pint of beer caloriewise

Sadly, for those who don't really like G&T's..that's the way to go........or any other white spirit (vodka, white rum)

Beer is the biggest no-no

i dont think there is much truth to that coz as soon as you start drinking water again your body will start to retain that and store were it lost previously

Yeah you will just loose water, no real weight loss as such. Good for detoxing though. Afraid to say there is no 'quick fix' when it comes to weight loss, just diet and exercise, the boring stuff!

Sauna is great for losing weight!

I keep seeing this amazing lass in the one at our gym. always wears tiny bikinis and has a figure that you see in your dreams!! No way I'm gonna be a fat git if I'm gonna be sat in there with her so I work extra hard in the gym!

Potentially you could gain weight if thats all you did, you need to be well hydrated to metabolise fat. So although your weight may appear lower due to low fluid levels you're not going to shift the fat. Balanced diet and exercise, its the only way.
