Sad day yesterday, sold the scoob

People say its only a car, but it was MY car, I loved that car Unfortunately I said to my wonderful girlfriend that the scoob had been part of me longer than she had - I dropped a bollock there

My head ruled my heart and it had to go, different circumstances now. When I first got the car it had to do the everyday commute, the shopping etc but also the B road blasts and trackdays. As I'm sure you'll agree the Impreza fits the "one car does all" philosophy very well

That car of mine had never let me down in all those years of TLC followed by spirited hard driving. And in those years that ownership has brought me many new friends, through trackdays and Scooby meets and of course Scoobynet which I joined when it had less than 3000 members and the Muppet forum was not even a twitch in Kermit's Y fronts. Those were the days.....

Anyway things move on, now than I'm in the family way my spare time is pretty much non existant to do those B road blasts and the trackdays as often as I used to, and now that I've moved home the journey to work is a 20 minute crawl. I don't need a scoob anymore, I need an economical estate, so thats what I'm getting.

But I'm a petrol head at heart, I can't throw it all away can I? Well for the odd weekend when I need my kicks I bought a Westfield - 300 bhp/ton

I can run this and the estate for far less cost to run a scoob, well thats how I justified it to the girlfriend

Anyway the point of this post is that I'm missing the car already, I know there are alot of cases when people sell their scoobs to come back to them a few years later, I wonder If I'll be one of them?

I doubt it when I've worked out I can afford to run a real trackday car for the road AND an everyday commuter that I don't have to worry about when parking at the station, Tescos etc.

However much I justify it, I'm in Scoob mourning this week

Sorry to hear that!

Although very sensible.. you could always get a wagon.. you can fit all the baby stuff you like in it and the wagon does 45mpg (just in case the wife is reading).

Jay, you have my sympathy - I've just had to do the same, but without the anaesthetic of a Westfield

Had two scoobs over 4 years.. now I've had to get a cheaper, older, more economical car for reasons of cost.

I console myself with the fact that I "could" have another scoob one day
