ecu reset- is this right?
#1
Just performed my first ecu reset- connected black to black, green to green as per instructions. Depressed accelerator with igniton on for about ten seconds ( engine not running). I then set off, thinking I had to drive for 1 minute over 11kph for the reset when the check engine light would flash at 1/2 second intervals. However, within seconds of setting off the check engine light began flashing at 1/2 second intervals. Carried on for over a minute anyway, then stopped, disconected the plugs and then drove up a hill in 5th from low speed to put engine under load. Car seemed as previous! Still running .85 bar boost with no noticeable changes. Did the reset 'cos I'm now using optimax with broquets. Car is a my93 wrx. Am I missing something or have I reset my ecu?? Help appreciated before nm6. pumpers.

Mine done the same but my peak boost is as Phill's.
Phill - How long does yours hold peak for. Mine hits it momentarily then falls to ~14psi (0.96 Bar) across most of rev range and then down to 11psi (0.75 Bar) towards top end of rev range.
Cheers
Mark
PS - Should I (sorry you) be worried if I seen a red turbo doing doughnuts around the ring road Just kidding - hope car comes back in one piece, my missus spun mine last time she borrowed it.

That was me doing doughnuts around the ring road this morning after filling up with Optimax.....
My missis is scared of the car anyway. Took her around smarts green roundabout in Yate, Flat out and she was begging me to stop That will teach her.
Cheers Phill C

I get the same thing,(my95 WRX) after about 50 yards or so the check engine light starts flashing. Handy since I can fully reset the car using the same layby! . I seem to get the best results by driving normally after the reset for 5 mins or so without booting it, then giving it some stick. Give it a good long drive after the reset in any case.
cheers
