I think the water down here may be softer than up in the Newport area Glenn, I've noticed when I've seen cars washed at work that they've always got visible water marks on them after.

Those mats will be worth a lot already if not even more in the future due to the limited market who will want to keep their cars as original as possible.

I was disappointed not to be able to source a set of the correct centre caps at a price I was willing to pay but if you do have a 'spare' set then I would happily relieve you of them.

I didn't realise about the centre caps being carbon fibre, I did contact BBS in Germany about a set but they weren't interested in the slightest and basically told me to go away.
Sorry Ty, I did look for you mate but the centre caps are gone. I was 80% sure I had sold them but double checked anyway.

I did find a 22B Titanium Wing Badge I didn't know I had and a bootlid 22B import badge and a rear glass quick steering badge! I will be keeping them to go in a framed photo in my garage when my self build is done and I am back on my feet.

What number is your car Ty, was supposed to ask before!

Thanks for looking Richy, as for the build # that is up in the air as the vehicle has bits of JDM and UK 22B in it, including the lower dash where the build plaque would go and the radio surround plus the panel where the headlamp levelling adjustment controls are located.

Once I get more time I will contact Subaru in Japan to see if they can shed some light on the matter and assist.

I have also bought an STi Genome exhaust silencer to go on, I picked it up for a bargain price and it's in really good condition. I love the sound on these and they look the business as well.

This will be my third Genome silencer and for a standard bore system I think there is no better alternative.

Why would someone mess with this important part of a 22B? Have you checked out the chassis number with Niall on 22B.com to see if he can help? If there is one man who can shed some light for you, it will be Niall...

I don't know Richy, for the moment I'm not too bothered about it as I'm keeping the car, but once the car comes off the road in October for a fair bit of TLC I will start some serious research into the car's history.

Just a bit Brian, I quite fancy keeping the use of my ear drums for the moment anyway.

The one thing that I need to sort out is the tyres as to be honest they are pretty cr@p if am being honest, other than checking the tread depth and pressures I really haven't paid them that much attention.

Anyway on the return trip from Castle Combe there was a really great sweeping long right hand corner which should not have proved a problem - but the tyres lost grip and I ended up having to correct it mid corner which wasn't ideal.

I was 99% sure about going for Federal 595 RS-R tyres but they don't do them in 245 50 R17 so that has gone out of the window, I think now I will go for Falken FK453 tyres but does anyone have a recommendation about where to source some from or alternative tyres? I don't mind buying them online and getting them installed locally.

I am kicking myself as I should have paid more attention to them after all they are they only contact points between the car and the road.

Ty, myself and max are running 453's, i rate them highly. We took max's Spec C up over the ranges for a bit of hooning after Japfest yesturday, i drove on the way back and really put the car to go on the twisties and although i had them on the edge of theyre limits (just at 4wheel drift point if you like) they held very well.
Theres a new place on the industrial estate by us that max had a very competitive supplied, fitted and balanced price, want me to get a price for you in the morning?
Plumb center is next door, and im there everyday, so its no bother :-)

Thanks Robbie, would you mind getting me a quote for 245 40 17 95Y tyres, can you ask if they can also do Nankang NS-2R tyres in the same size as they get good reviews for grip.

Ian, who do I look for a price for Michelin PS tyres? I have been on their web page but they don't list any prices.

They do weekly deals mate. When I get back I'll have a snoop for a price (my sneak in a cheeky hot dog)

Just replaced my tyres as the two front had split right round and wanted all of them to match so ended up buying 4 Bridgestone potenza tyres and must say they have transformed the car completely

I've had a rethink on the Genome silencer and it may well not get used now.

Well I have a set of new tyres on the way, ordered from Pneus Online who I found were about the cheapest online supplier, a lot cheaper than Camskill and Black Circles.

Plus a set of Lamco oil temperature, oil pressure and voltage gauges on the way to go with the Lamco boost gauge I already have.

Oh, and a set of AS Performance gear linkage bushes. As the gear linkage is going to be dropped down to set it up properly it would be stupid not to improve the gear change by not fitting the uprated bushes which stiffen up the change and remove all the slop.

They are a German brand called Syron, they are called Race One Plus.

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Syron/Race-1-plus.htm

They get good reviews and the price is pretty good to say the least, I got a set of 4 for £245.04 including delivery for a set of 245 40 17 95W tyres.
