Syron hey, rhymes with Tyron (and incidentally they're next to each other in the alphabet). Coincidence,? I think not, Syron and Tyron were always meant to be together....

Those old Greek mythology jokes are just timeless.

I've done a fair bit of research and even if they only last 10000 miles or less then they should see 2 years of use, and compared to what's on the car now they'll be a definite improvement.

Default I May Well Need Ear Plugs...

Having had the newage STi exhaust silencer fitted for a while I have noticed that the exhaust tone is just too quiet and lacks the burble we all love.

So I bought a Genome but decided to sell it on as I decided it wouldn't look right on a classic, so what would I try next?

Well for one extreme to another, I have gone for a Blitz Nur Spec R cat back system. This system does come with a centre resonator section and with the standard cat still in place it should keep the noise below ear drum blowing level, and if it doesn't I will either go deaf very quickly or you will see it up for sale pretty soon.

I hope to have it with me by the end of the week and get it fitted this weekend.

I can always get a set of ear defenders from work, or even install an in car communications system just like the rally teams use if it really get's too loud.

As long as it doesn't resonate too much, it's not the volume as such it will be any droning noise at motorway speeds which will be the killer.

Plus at least this car has sound deadening fitted, I had that Cobra silencer fitted on my Spec C and that was like torture due to the way the sound would resonate inside the cabin.

I had a set of Ferrari test pipes on my last Honda NSX for all of 5 minutes! Absolutely no silencing, just stainless pipes straight off the cats
Now that was LOUD!!!!

Get yourself the proper bung for the longer motorway trips or you will go mad

Very nice ty but I think you've made a mistake. They look and sound awesome but they drone on the motorway. Cracking the window a little helps but it is still very loud. Get it fitted and try it out. If you don't like it sell it on and get the hks silent like kev and sss have. That's just right imho

I have had cars with straight through exhausts in the past, and even on a standard NA car it was enough to make me think about burning the car.

I do hope that it comes with the bung as it should come with one as standard but if not they can be easily sourced.

Thanks Danny, it couldn't be any worse than the Cobra on a Spec C now that was like torture, I think in comparison it will be quite reserved.

There's a couple of things you could do with the car now Ty to help you inside, on mine for example I removed the parcel shelf and fitted sound deadening then when the rear seat was out I fitted a sheet of acoustic carpet it's black fabric more so to tidy up the exposed foam rear seat rear in the boot, cabin noise is perfect it's there but not loud, what I will do as well since I have some left is to simply place it under the carpet in the boot, I have two boot mats in mine anyway. Sometimes these small jobs make a big difference inside the car.

I have an acoustic mat set fitted in mine, its just kills all the noise and is totally removable as its like an underlay.

Your welcome to have a look if you feel you need something to calm it down.

I've followed Pete he has the same Zorst and you can here him 2/3 cars in front.
I hope you have understanding neighbours

I might well take out the back seats Simon and put some acoustic matting below the boot carpet and under / behind the rear seats. I have some sound deadening pads left over so I might well place them on the underside of the parcel shelf in the interim.

Once the refurb is underway then I will have the time to sort out the sort deadening properly.

My neighbours have never complained (yet), but having said that apart from the occasional early morning get away to a show the car is never really used to become a noise nuisance, and besides after some prolonged use I won't be able to hear it anyway.

As above I might see if I can source some acoustic matting before the weekend and fit some under the boot carpet and around the rear seats.

No you need to fit exhaust first to see how loud it is then fit the carpet to see how much difference it is

Well it's only going to be a 20 minute job to remove the rear seats, put acoustic matting and put sound deadening pads into other areas.

I think I'll try and get the matting before the weekend, it can't do any harm to fit it.

You did I was just going to see a customer in the Industrial Estate by there, I did think it was you as you flew by me.

And get a decent horn even Noddy would feel embarassed by the one on the Cayenne.
