We were partying, and we had our telly on in our living room. Once we had done our own pathetic fireworks, we caught up with London extravaganza. I thought they did alright there. Nothing wrong with burning money on fun sometimes, we all do it to lift our morale. If some of us don't, then I strongly recommend you do. It's up to you, though. No pressure.
I didn't mind London ones not so creative either. Too much creativity from that Danny Boyle's Olympics is still warm for me, even when that event was held in Adam and Eve's era. My eyes quite admired randomised spectacle.
I left my conservatory party when Gary Barlow came up with "Could it be Magic"- it just drew me in like a magnet. Needless to say that spirits did move us lot something chronic all night; only to wake up to the reality of 2014. Too much tidying required around the house.
Anyway, happy new year.

Yup, just think we shipped our convicts across to Australia and Australia has ended up being the better country, a bit ironic really.
I wish they still did ship our convicts across I would be out raping and pillaging right now.

None I would imagine. And if they did what relevance would that have to the fireworks?

I have just watched the recording of London NY fireworks. I think they looked spectacular! I've even taken the pictures of the TV images, because some of them were just so dreamy! Whoever filmed it for telly has done a great job! Very nice.

This years looked good to me, went on for ages. It gets me why on earth thousands of fktards stand there recording it on their phones. Will get home and play it back to realise its pointless videoing fireworks and missed a good show. Watch it for real take in the atmosphere and hold ya loved one instead of Chinese plastic.

- Apparently, and for the first time, revellers had to pay for a 10 quid ticket to get a waterfront spot.... But it was never advertised anywhere. So, many people arrived on the night - some from afar and tourists - only to be turned away, etc. (And also, unsurprisingly, some of the spivs touted the tickets at 10x the face value, online).
Great to see 'mini capitalism' is still alive and well then - nothing like entering into the spirit of the festivities. But, hey, it IS London, after all.

More and more people take immense pleasure in filming or taking stills on their phone or any cams these days. A lot of them like to show them off to their friends and to all and sundry on internet. In my opinion, they do miss out on the bigger pleasure of beholding the scene with their real eyes. But hey, secondary level pleasure through the recording and stills and the pleasure gained with "look, what I captured through my lens" attention seeking must be more meaningful to them.
This is not aimed at the assigned professional team for the telly. I'm grateful to them instead, for they brought the creative display to my home telly, man. I'm obliged.

Have you been? Things are on paper more expensive in Australia as the standard of living is much higher, but you also get a lot more for your money. Last time I was there I stayed in the Inter Continental with a view of the bridge and harbour in a luxury suite room for £140 per night. You will never get anything like that in London for that price or anywhere near it!

I wonder what sort of comments we will see on SN if this organised fireworks display seizes in the UK forever?
I can imagine that some would say- "God, what a sh7tty country we are that we can't even afford a grand public display fireworks in here any more!", "What the ferk do they do with my taxes now???", "That's it! I'm moving to North Pole to live with a polar bear now" etc.
