2013/14 Fireworks?
What a ****ing mess. If they insist on throwing c.£2M down the drain, couldn't they at least try to be a bit more bloody creative about it!
Seems to get worse year after year. Or at best, exactly the same as previous years.  It's highly inadequate. Plus, terrorists miss out on the ideal opportunity to blow up the seat of UK political power. :D |
All that money, spent on....yep...London again.
What they waste on that place would run a small town hospital for a year...... Someone...please...atom bomb London, preferably while parliament is sitting!. |
i'd love to see one year, London just using a box from Tesco's

Seeing London consists of mainly foreigners, I would move it else where. A different city every year, at least let everyone have a part in it.

Let every city that would like them buy a ticket in a lottery, the name around October. Plenty of time for publicity, would remove some of the feeling that London and the SE get everything. |

London's display is brilliant and generates £m's every year. Hotels, restaurant's etc being full for the event which continues today with the parade through London which draws over 500,000 people. |

Spending nearly £4m it should be, and it's not a competition anyway.

How about some of that revenue coming to another city? Or is that unthinkable in the UK?

Yes, but what relevance is that to my comment? Get a hardon for London if you want, that's up to you, but as I said Sydney's is better and the weather is better too! London is an over priced rip off! :thumb:
Why you had to mention your beloved Sydney I do not know, as it has no relevance to the original post. But then you always love to slag off anything this country does don't you. How is the event an overpriced rip off with free entry and free tube travel. :wonder: |
Surely they could put the 2 million they have wasted on fireworks to better use :nono:

Hardon for London? No, I just stated that it was a brilliant display and is an excellent source of revenue

Just to make sure that people realise London's display is a bit of a joke compared to a proper city in a better country :thumb: Wouldn't like people who might not know how good fireworks can be to be duped into thinking London is the be all and end all :D

Seemingly cheaper than Sydney though in recent news.

That's unthinkable in the UK, seeing that the UK isn't run in London (after all Brussels call our shots now) anymore maybe we can look into having a different capital city in the Uk each year to spread revenue around a bit.

Things are on paper more expensive in Australia as the standard of living is much higher, but you also get a lot more for your money. Last time I was there I stayed in the Inter Continental with a view of the bridge and harbour in a luxury suite room for £140 per night. You will never get anything like that in London for that price or anywhere near it! As for London I go there quite a lot and can often get very good hotels at very prices if you book at the right time. |

The real laugh is of course that out of all the cities in the UK the best New Year celebrations are in Edinburgh not London, but the politicians don't realise that as their view doesn't extend much further north than Watford :D
Either way it makes no difference to me, just did my weekly shop and had the whole of fcuking Morrisons to myself, was bloody brilliant to shop in peace without having to dodge peoples shopping trollies on food frenzies. |
Thing is, like it or not, it IS a ruddy worldwide 'willy-waving competition'!
And while the capital insists on 'taking part', then, quite frankly, the effort is embarrassing. |

No , I haven't been nor have any intention of doing so. My daughter however is going out there in March for 2 months as part of her nursing degree.

But never mind, now that the recession is behind us ( all three of them lol) and the UK is now a major player again on the world stage we can look forward to a very special one next year to compete with the rest of the world. |
