Your chasing numbers though Jura if 500 isn't enough, that or competing in some form of drag racing or sprinting. That's where you and your brother seemed to go, 2.1 stroker barely run in then a 2.35, lots of expense and grief.
It's nice having an amazing spec sheet but is it always needed? If you've got to really stretch yourself financially it's not worth it.
Anyway, as SJ said, plan the build well, build it once. I've only got 410/410 in a full fat type r and that's plenty quick enough for the road, not been on track yet with this one but you don't need massive power to have a well sorted track car

Same like with 2.1L,this has been again big learning curve,as I said on our project thread,if I know we will be going above 500bhp,I would choose different block and different spec from start,but our project started as to have nice 400bhp and then we are started to run Santa Pod RWYB and we are seen 490bhp in new age wagon is simply not enough to break 11's and get finally wagon to 10's bracket
This is not about the our project or our spec or about us,as I said on in my first post,depends on targets and budget and from this I would go
Saying have well sorted track car and not been on track or 410/410 is enough for track or drag strip,if you are not been on track or drag strip is slightly misleading
Questions is If you can run more on yours 2.5L more would you be running more ?
If 500bhp isn't enough,hard to say,depends on road is more than enough,for drag strip again depends on the targets and what is yours goal and for track,in 490bhp on Brands Hatch this power has been enough,on Snetterton 490bhp not been enough for us...

Nick if you want to change the thread name have a think and let me know I can over write that for you.
On a personal level I'm not a power figure chaser, for me usable power is far more important. What I would not want is a car that's a pig at low speed then an explosion at 70mph as for my usage that would be pointless... If I was given an open cheque I would be looking maybe 2.1 but a small highly responsive turbo for instant torque at any speed then with the correct clutch so it would not be like pressing a weight bench everytime I changed gear. Hmm bhp well for me in my RA I would be looking around 360/360

I've not said that my figures are what you need, nor for the strip as I have no interest in that, just said that on the road it's plenty enough for me as you don't often get a chance to properly use the power.

I have a 2.1 non avcs in a classic (p1) with an MD 321v with high lift cams. It's running around 500bhp/420ftlb at 1.8 bar, but it doesn't get really going until late 4k revs - partly due to the leery cams. That makes for a quick car with the classic weight.
If you can add it to the spec, an avcs set up would really help on widening the power band by giving you earlier spool and a rotated set up would also help.

Thanks for the imput so far guys!
I think the best thing really is to try and get a ride along in a car around the 450ish mark and see what I think. If there is anyone fairly local that would be willing to take me on a ride along I would be really greatful, obviously I would pay for fuel, few beers etc
