Jack, I'm not saying the Mac Pro is rubbish at what it does or can't do the job. If your job requires you to use software on OSX then Mac Pro it is. Like I said earlier, you use the software and hardware that best meets your needs. There will always be better hardware out there, but that does not mean it'll be better at the job.

If however, your 3d and video editing/encoding or any of your software requires CUDA support, for example, well then you're stuffed and you either have to stick with your old Mac Pro or get another workstation with NVidia hardware installed.

Have you used OSX terminal? It's awesome. I definitely don't need a Mac Pro, just want one and fail to see a problem with that.

Tidgy, we're talking about the future, Samsung are still making iPhone chips, but they couldn't keep the contract, hopefully they'll be in better shape for 2015 and will win it back. Don't forget Samsung have been blowing a lot of cash on Marketing and not a lot on Development. I hope you enjoyed the adverts and sponsorship.
aren't apple going back to Samsung for the processor

That's what I've heard. Giving them a year or so off to catch up.

No Samsung isn't the one catching up. They shot themselves in the foot by trying to wean themselves off Samsung as a supplier. Unfortunately for Apple they chose a supplier that aren,t able to produce the quality or volume required, nor do they have a fabrication process as advanced as Samsung. Samsung are already able to produce 14nm A9 chips to be used in Apple's future iPhone 7/the new new new iPad. If anyone is playing catch up it's Apple and went grovelling back to Samsung to become their primary supplier again. If they stuck with Samsung they could have had an iPhone fast enough to compete with the Galaxy S4 or HTC One.

Ha! You on the back foot Jon? Apple didn't go to a new supplier because they were worse, that's laughable. I love how you seem to think there's some magic in Android phones that make them better, magic pixie dust? Oh, maybe it's the eye tracking, must be the eye tracking that **** is revolutionary, LOL.

No that's right, Apple didn't leave to go to a worse supplier nor did they go to TSMC believing they were better. Paint it however you like, the sole reason why they went to another supplier was to reduce their dependancy to Samsung and their relationship soured due to Apple constantly trying pursue Samsung through the courts. Apple experienced constant production issues with their new supplier and realised their mistake and went sulking back to Samsung, $10bn please Apple, kerr-ching!

Pedantry should be a crime.

Andy, ask the courts, they handed out the fines Samsung are about to settle.

Jon, there's no discussion, you assume Apple sacked Samsung to stick their thumbs up at them. I see it as a shrewd business move. Neither of us know the truth.

You have the wrong end of the stick, there is real chance the ITC will ban apple products from the USA, so apple are likely wanting to settle :-)

The case hasn't reached conclusion yet, however apple's case going forward is significantly weakened, with patents being declared invalid and/or being narrowed down due to prior apart that they are no longer worth having a patent. Also the US government is becoming increasingly involved in patent law and the abuse that is happening. At some point software patents will be declared invalid and all this nonsense will stop. Then the market will decide, legacy firms will shrivel up and FOSS will become the norm :-)

No, no Andy the case concluded. Samsung cried like babies and are trying to wiggle out of the huge fines. What were they found guilty of? Very amusing that you can't bring yourself to say it.

I could agree with you if Samsung had given up, but it is only the first round. Guess by your reasoning Ali had lost to Foreman in the Rumble. Wait till its finished :-)

Apple have been found out on their home turf that they had weighted gloves, but round two, three the game will change

The case is over, Samsung guilty, Samsung are just stomping their feet trying to wriggle their way out of 1 billion is damages, and no doubt they'll get a discount. However, they are guilty and anyone but an idiot knew that anyhow, from the Device to the OS to the Packaging to the Advertising they blatantly copied and still do. That's what the Koreans are good at.

Copied for what reason? Just search Google, only you and a few other tards think they're not guilty of copying.
