The point I am so unsuccessfully trying to make is that banning guns is not going to prevent violent crime.
2 points
1. Banning guns will result in only the law abiding citizens not having guns
2. Anyone that decides he is going to kill people is going to find a way regardless of whether guns are legal or not. Look at the amazing weapons manufactured by inmates of most criminal institution.
So if someone decides to go on a killing spree in a shopping precinct with a car what are you going to do, ban cars? Car owners are not even required to undertake the most basic of criminal or psychological tests.

.Not that I care either way, but this isn't anything to do with violent criminal offenders, it's to do with miss contended adolescents being taken down the range by their parents ( since its their god given right to have a gun )and then the keys to the rifle cupboard left around

Exactly! A p!ssed-off teenager in the UK just listens to Slipknot, a p!ssed-off teenager in the States goes on a killing spree at school/college using his Dad's gun(s).

Thomas Hamilton was law abiding citizen, right up until the moment he walked into Dunblane school and blew away the lives of 16 children with a GUN

imagine what he would have done with an assult rifle

the comparisons between Switzerland is a red hearing

Gun's arn't as accessible in US as some Scandinavian countrys, so the idea that its because they are just doesn't hold any water. The education system for them are totlay different, thats the issue.

They are not immune to the occasional rampage either - Anders Brevik for example, or http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009...entre-shooting

Guns are regulated in the US, just not as strictly as here for example.

yes there are incidents, but you hihglight the important point, 'occasional', alot fewer incidents happen compared to the US.

Well, that may just be because there's 300 million Americans versus a few million Scandanavians
