I think you will find it's the TY52 classic boxes that suffer the most with failures, not the TY54 thats in the newage.

I have had scoobs for over 8yrs and been on here since 04 when i bought my first WRX new, so please don't try and discredit my knowledge.

I also have a proper point to point scooby, (STI Type r) tucked up in the garage.

and ive had 7 over 10 years and also currently have access to wrx and sti models and can tell you from experience the sti is quicker.

the 5 speed box is still week, not as much in the newer cars but still wont take much abuse

Page 2 of the thread, helps if you read everything in the thread before comenting.

As for tubbs attempt to discredit the figures, more clutching at straws.

im not discrediting, you get different figures from everywhere on the net, maybe they are correct.

but IN MY OPINION the sti is a far superior car on the roads, be it a or b.
and this opinion was formed by driving them and not something read on a forum(not directed at you by the way).

Now now...No need to get touchy

The facts maybe the WRX is faster to 60 from a standing start but who buys a car just because the 2nd gear is slightly longer?

Ha ha, the OP must be pi55ing himself.
2 pages of what could loosely be called 'debate', and then almost 3 pages of TT & DM getting it on

Utter crap.

I've launched mine loads of times, 80-100 at a guess, and my current 5 speed, 754 cased, hasn't blown up.

I did destroy the previous 2, 752 cased, killed both of those on the road with about 15 launches between the pair of them.

There is no argument, just starting to understand why you've had a chip on your shoulder about WRX's all this time. Might be worth selling up and getting one as your track car.

The whole my STI is better than your WRX is a bit like saying my girlfriend is better looking than yours! Strip them down and they are not that different ; )

STI owners like their cars and WRX owners like theirs simple.

When I got my WRX PPP is was based primarily on two simple points (1) it was some £2k cheaper than a 'standard' STI of the same age and mileage and give or take just as fast and (2) it didn't have the chavvy STI wing on the boot and the girly pink badges...

The £2k that I saved bought a cheap run around and a nice holiday. I've never looked back!!

You'd need a long one to get the gudgeon pins out.

Don't need more BHP, a bit more lb/ft wouldn't go amiss though.
