No Hodgy, it can't compare to the opening of CR, the black and white scene with flashbacks of Bond's first kill was spine tingling. Followed by the parkour chase, the crane fight and then the carnage in the Embassy was just brilliant.

However the crane/train bit in Skyfall though nowhere near as good was still the best part of the film. It went all down hill from there, and not because there weren't ridiculous cat stroking nuclear device wielding baddies. But because the script and plot were poor and the movie didn't really flow

Yep, glad i am not the only one, as that is, what i thought too! – memorable and spine-tingling

I came out of Skyfall and had forgotten it before I got to my car

Finally saw this last night and was pretty disappointed. I am not sure where all this mass praise is coming from with many people claiming “best bond ever”. Wtf?

The whole bit with 007 coming back from the dead was a bit short and lacking in detail. I thought. Bardem as the villain was laughable with shaggy blonde hair, 80’s style dress sense and goofy teeth. He would have been more at home in Austin Powers. Maybe if you haven’t seen him in No Country for Old Men he may come across ok but after watching him playing (brilliantly) one of the most evil villains ever witnessed on screen, it’s a bit bizarre to seem him reduced to some crazy geek holed up in deserted city / island near Macau with a comms room that consisted of many racks with what appeared to be just red fairy lights flashing to symbolise some super server / router setup.

Way too much about M who has always been weak as played by Dench imho. As soon as Fiennes part developed and started to help them all and you knew his last name was Mallory then M getting injured the writing was on the wall. The new Q who looks like he came straight out of the IT crowd. The scene in Scotland at the end was just an utter joke. Going off radar is one thing – going to an old house with almost no guns was brain dead. And don’t get me started on Moneypenny and the DB5 with goldfinger upgrades. I did like the leather padded door to the new M’s office though. Subtle unlike the rest.

As has already been said I think our expectations were set to high after the Casino Royale remake which was probably my favourite bond tbh. QoS and Skyfall have been a complete let down for me.

Yes but I didn't see the point. Nor with the DB5. If it was just the DB5 that he won in Casino Royal, it makes sense. But it just made the film quite cheesy.

And as previous mentioned, you can certainly tell when the money ran out.

Overall, I enjoyed it but not as much as Casino Royal.

Yep I thought that. He won it in CR but then decided to get it upgraded ala Goldfinger. Pointless reference to a past film I thought.

Also what was with the "let me dig the bullet fragments out of my chest with a knife" to create a lead whilst I am in MI6 and could have got a surgeon to do it properly. Likewise the poker chip in the assasins case that leads him to Macau. Oops how did that get in there.

Yes I agree, it was all ludicorusly far fetched and utterly unrealistic .... oh wait a minute

Whilst I agree it had its weak moments etc. it was a heck of a lot better than the other nonsense showing at the movies right now such as Frankenweenie and bloody Taken 2.... what a pile of **** that is!

Went to see yesterday.

Not as thrilling as previous versions but we're in straightened times I suppose, interesting nonetheless

They've obviously shared a roof top with taken 2 filmset

Another reference to 50 year old macallan,a bottle of which we drank over a week in a place I inherited, nicest whisky iv ever tasted this was 1947 bottle, the labels nothing like advertised on the net - ill never know what it was maybe best that way

Shame about the review on Bardem. He is a brilliant actor. This Bond cheese seemed to have reduced him to something ridiculous, by the sound of it. Dame Judy Dench is generally far too high-rated anyway imo; M or not M.

Ah well. I won't be rushing to go and see this film.

Agree on that. It's what bond is all about, now it's just becoming another Die Hard, only with smaller weapons..

I watched Casino Royale on blu-ray last weekend and just re-inforced how bad QoS and Skyfall have dropped since then. I can’t pick a whole in CR other than the lack of a decent chase seen in the DBS as it only lasted about 10 secs. I actually watched the special features and pretty interesting how it took so long to make it properly with all the issues of film rights, a crappy tv version and the spoof film after Thunderball got made instead.

Bond isnt bond. I want gadgets, sexy women, weird villains with white cats and death ray machines.
