apple humiliation
No Facebook aren't selling phones. Jack thought the Facebook IPO would be the next big thing and turns out it was big mistake instead. Google's stock dropped 8% recently, their annual results were released by mistake but still nothing like Apple's drop with the release of the iPhone 5.

($30bn mistake by Apple)
If so, then have a read of the "Jackass of the week" posting on JG's blog here:
http://daringfireball.net/linked/2012/october
Specifically I am referring to this bit:
With a market cap over $600 billion, any change in stock price, even just a few percentage points, is going to amount to a change in market cap of tens of billions of dollars.
So yes, there was a stock drop, as there usually is when a new iPhone or iPad comes out, but it's not as massive as it may sound.
FFS - Do people actually live in reality around here!
Do you really think that the general consumer gives a rats *** about what is going with Apple and a n other commercially. It makes no difference to the fact (like it or not) that Apple products have been and still are desirable.
Ask some good looking chap with some georgous looking bird, who will both surely own an iPhone, whether or not they are aware of the Samsung vs Apple ****fest. Watch them look at you and think you're a proper ****, as they think about how they're going to bang the back doors out of each other later on that evening!

Geezer
The Apple vs Android arguments could just as easily have been:
C64 vs Spectrum
Amiga vs Atari 520
Dreamcast vs Playstation
VHS vs Betamax
ad infinitum
The only real argument here is who needs approval of what they have purchased, and what is best is what's best for you.
Buying an Android is like buying a Skoda instead of a VW. Both perform admirably but one has a better resale value and image.

iPhone is like a 911, subtle changes over the years, highly desirable and reassuringly expensive. Android phones are cheap and more often than not come from Korea like Kia and Hyundai.
Lol.
iPhone is now Porsche? Get real. Parts made in Far East and assembled in China? Sounds more like a Fukang. But wait, designed in America? So more like a Corvette? Looks good but made of flimsy plastic, pretty quick but can't corner...
Wait.
Confused myself now.

The steel in a 911 more than likely does come from China. And let's not forget that the designer of the iPhone is Knight of the Realm not someone called **** who's good at photoshop.
Also, a 911 massively outperforms a Kia or Hyundai, whereas an iPhone does not massively outperform the Android stuff, so you couldn't have picked a worse analogy really.
Geezer
Bringing the thread back on track. Who's been to the Apple web site lately? And who's going to go when the Samsung ad is placed?
Those who just can't help but look might be drawn under by the Apple marketing voodoo.

Android is an OS .. iPhone is a model of phone .. if you installed Android on an iPhone would your head implode ?
If I say iPhone, you know it's running iOS, if I say iOS then I may be referring to the iPad or iPhone version of iOS. It's quite simple with Apple products.

Geezer
Look at the original iPhone, it was a good design and Apple have persevered with it. As an original iPhone owner I never went threw a hedge backwards but I did pull my hair out a couple of times.
