My Classic scoob...
Engine has been machined for rear thrust conversion etc.... Tuffnol spacers to fit AVCS heads and a V5 inlet manifold arrived from AS-performance. Perfect for keeping heat out of the manifold, these are also machined for O-Ring seals, so no need for gash looking double gasket arrangements!
AVCS looms are ordered from JTI today.
There is talk of it been all up and running before my birthday (17th Aug) so still time to get to some hill climbs

In line with the ethos of my last upgrades of only fitting the best parts, I refer you back to this comment and you can draw your own conclusions;
Update -
Engine is machined, rear thrust is complete, bored, decked etc!
Had a slight issue with the heads

That was nightmare, Ive just had to shell out for some cams now, gone for some 278s in there, this is getting interesting
I cannot wait to see what it is capable of!
Big thanks to a member on here for been a gent and helping with the cams....

no fear, we have no connection with any other company and all parts are manufactured to a high standard using only quality materials of the correct grade for the intended application........
we aren't the "cheapest" but then quality never is..........
Thanks for all your help, it makes a build so much easier like this been able to talk to people with knowledge and the same passion for doing things a little bit differently

It seems to be a common issues on the avcs cams!
I can't wait to have this hitting the 9+k mark....!
Engine should hopefully be fully built by the end of this week and dropped into the car next week
getting excited now, then a running in map and 1000 miles to do!
The last bits I need arrived today my AVCS loom and a little present of the clutch switch for my flat foot shifting when the main map is done, and sent off for my MSA licence so I can get the last two sprints and hill climbs done this year

Thanks! Its nothing like your project, I wish I had more time to do more bits on it myself...
Not sure if I'll fit the 114 conversion now or until after the end of summer.... If I can find some cheap wheels I'll do it now, but I need the ABW arches to suit the new wheels....!
What size are the ones you're running?

Ah yeah so a similar size to mine!
Im going 17x9 ET10. Problem been with the spacer/adapters is that with ET-10 because I wont use stretched tyres they will protrude 17mm past the edge of the wide arch kit!
So at least going with the hubs I get stronger shafts, bearings and CVs, and a better rear diff...! And means tht the wheels will be 3mm inside the arches with my 235/40/17 tyres....

I run 265/35 all round on the 10s so they sit pretty square on the rim. The arches on mine where stupid wide. Just a massive universal fiberglass ones from a company in the US. Even with the et12 rims and a 25mm spacer on top of that I had to cut about 2" off the back of the arches.
Your car will look trick dude love those rims

Was that just so you can get full lock on the steering?!?! I don't know what's goingto be involved with fitting mine to be honest. I've never done any bodyworkso will have to find someone to sort it for me!
I'm hoping I don't need to tub the arches etc! But I am in unknown territory it seems as I can't find any classics running the 5x114 hubs etc!
I have been told my r160 front shafts will fit tstraight in to the 5x114 front hubs, but I have to machine the hubs to suit the claassic coilovers. I have a set of k sport front brakes, and need to redrill the bells to 5x114 or get a new set (new set of discs is 375quid
!!!!) The rear is just a new diff, shafts and hubs, my 2 pot oconversion should bolt straight on so will save a few pennies there...
Although engine tuner are pricingg me some k sport rears

Still waiting on my hubs, diff, shafts etc to turn up -.-
Got the front shafts on the way too as the hubs wont fit the shafts I have....
So for completeness as there is very little information out there...
.
I have so far acquired -
R180 3.54 rear diff.
r180 Rear shafts
4x 5x114,3 hubs
heavy duty male ended front shafts
R180 handbrake and rear disc assembly
All off a wide track Hawk STi.
To make this work, in theory I need to -
1) Rear end bolts up complete, I already have "Subaru" 2 pot rears so this should bolt straight on to the new hubs. Slight modification to the handbrake is required, along with a new UJ for the prop (possibly). widetrack utilise a 95mm PCD on the prop-diff bolts where as non is about 70mm....
2) Front end. This is where it gets complicated and I cannot find any definitive answers so Im flying blind here.
My TY856WN2CA box utilises female ended driveshafts, so the male ended ones might not fit... I have to replace the seals around the stub axles to fit male ended shaft, and assuming the spline count matches up, they will slot right in... But in true subaru fashion there are many different types!
Then there is the issue of the lower arms, drop links etc, no one can tell me if the shafts will require all the extra stuff that goes with it! Im hoping not!

I know how you feel, annoying when you can't find answers to things! Ian having a similar drive shaft issue with a Peugeot hill climb car I'm building, nightmares!
If I can get the shafts to fit, then its a case of, "does it fit with out changing the lower arms, arbs etc?!"
Eventually I might just end up with a widetrack classic! The issue with that is, that I wanted the 5x114 hubs for my wheels to sit them closer in to the shell, not 30+mm further out lol!

I wouldn't know. Have you asked Alyn about it?
Alyn is great, helps that he's pretty much on my doorstep.

My car failed it's mot the other week, so went to see Alyn.
Rear subframe bushes, poly bushes for the lateral arms, front droplinks, all in stock.
Only thing I needed that he didn't have, he thought he did though, was front anti roll bar bushes for a standard bar.
Meh, he had a 20mm Whiteline bar in stock and they come with their own bushes.
Shame he's been on holiday this week, as he could have probably saved me money on parts that have had to be bought from the dealers.

He can machine newage hubs t accept gc8 coilovers I have chatted to him about it before....
I have found definitive answers on fitting my male ended shafts to my female ended 6spd, I need to replace the seals to suit and they should slide straight in....
806735230 Oil Seal x1
806735240 Oil Seal x1
So the next issue is the shafts been different lengths etc...
Comparison -
MY05 Widetrack Newage is 1490mm front 1495mm rear
MY98 UK Turbo 1465mm front 1455mm rear
Now ideally I do not want to increase my track width, by 40mm! I have read however that there is 50mm play in the drive shafts and I should be able to use my current trailing arms, however knowing my luck, I am not going to be so lucky!
I cant find any information on the front, but only been 25mm wider should be able to take up some slack in the CV's.....
I suppose short of any definitive proof from people who have done it Im flying blind!
