Porsche 991

FWIW, kids DO fit in the back of a 911 just mine are 12 & 8. The 12 yr old is a lanky girl, but she figures the awkwardness is worth it coz is a porsche!!! ( I may have issues with her when she's older )
Out of interest, I tested the TT-RS, and instantly dismissed it for this reason (strange request at the Audi dealership, asking if I could sit in the back!!! "no, no, I don't want to drive it yet......just sit in the back..."
Lovely car Scott. I know that the ducktail causes some polarising opinions in the Porsche world, but fwiw, I love it.
Running a C4 myself, and can't stop grinning every day. The power is addictive, but as you rightly say, it's the grip that astounds more.
Have you seen the photographer request for all Porsche cars over on the Porsche forums and PH?
Can pm you the link if you want

Awesome car !!! Well done.
Can't believe the cost of the extra's though. Lots of manufacturers are creating cars that have to be specc'ed with expensive extra's to get the best out of them, or for them to be able to sold on again, as a none specc'ed car will be unwanted in the second hand car market. Shocking really. Something like a 911 should be great straight out of the tin, not just when specked to buggery.
Still, bl00dy nice car though.

The sport chrono was something I was a little unsure off.
It is very aggressive and I guess potentially a little wearing at times.
But it can be switched off.....so I agree - an essential option!
Why do Porsche offer it as an option and not standard?
Like everything Porsche, it makes them more £££££££!
So Ding, can you get the kids in the back?

I dont really have a lot to compare to other than i had a 2012 Cayman for a couple of days and the brakes felt like they needed to be stamped on to get them to bite. Maybe thats because i am used to the ceramics or the Cayman brakes are just ****e. I think the horror stories regarding PCCB are pretty much non-existent with this generation but i will see how this 2/3 years go but if they run as expected i would have no issues with ordering them on my next one

I did'nt notice any fade when on track and the warmer they got the better the bite just like fast road pads. They have 90% of feel from stone cold and i would say that after 100 mies of driving you get used to the way they bite as you would with any other car. I would say that if you are stamping on them they tend to want to lock up a little bit more than steel discs but you soon get used to it and learn not to press as hard, Its quite amazing the speed you can shed with such little pressure

Some of the GT3s at sprints have the PCCB option and they seem to stop well, it would be nice to have that kind of fade resistance. Great work getting such an expensive car straight out on track, I guess a 991 will take that all day without drama.

If you use the full child seat it's a bit tight, but that's because I like my seat quite far back as unless I can straighten my legs my knees start to hurt
If you use just the child seat base as a booster then it is a very comfortable fit indeed, loads of space actually. The youngest will be five in April and I'm pretty sure it's ok to use just the seat base as a booster. The upper belt seems to be across his chest (ie not his neck) and the lap belt across his hips (ie not his abdomen)
The only thing the base lacks as compared to a full seat is the added head protection.

I can feel my resistance weakening (ie the padlock on my wallet) only question is how? I'd rather buy second hand and try and take some of the blow out of the initial depreciation, however OPCs are offering some deals at the moment on the new physical cars.
You can tell they are desperate to get their end of year targets in because every OPC I phone I get a salesman immediately and they responding to emails instantly.
I'll keep you posted
ps Scott, sorry for hijacking your thread!

There's some great deals on very lightly used ones too.
If you're not bothered about which OPC you use, I can give you a contact for a non bull****ting, highly pleasant and affable salesman at Leicester.
(I know it's not local to you, but a few £k savings and good service is worth going anywhere for!)

Zip, open to explore all avenues. Leicester is not that far if I'm going to save some money. If you could pm me his details I'll give him a call on Monday.
Btw, what do people think about a demo car? My gut instinct is that they've been thrashed from cold, but the opc was trying to tell me they are very well looked after!

I know they lend them to customers, so I'm sure they do occasionally get thrashed from cold, but what you don't know can't hurt you!

I'll pm the details over shortly.
As for the demo cars - you still get 2-3 years warranty, so not really a problem.
Most Porsche owners will show as much mechanical sympathy to a demo as they would their own car.
It's not like Subaru owners.....

Yes there are some deals to be had with stock cars as long as your not to bothered about a fixed spec, but they seem to spec them pretty well anyway and obviously some parts can be retro fitted

Thanks guys.
Scott, the more I look at it the spec on your car is amazing ie top level suspension mods, brakes, wheels, and spoilers. Your ***** must have been swollen when you were ticking the options list
Are you enjoying the car? Any regrets?
Cheers

Thanks mate, no regrets other than i don't get to drive it enough. Its a fully rounded car that can do so much really well. Its a big cost car and will cost me loads in term of £/mile but i knew what i was budgeting for and am comfortable with it as long as i don't think about it too much I decided to treat myself and go to town with the spec and did have great pleasure in speccing exactly what i wanted, i admit its not the cheapest way but it makes the car a whole lot more special to me ......... jusy hope i dont get too raped when i trade in 2-3 years time

I bought possibly one of the cheaper models - more than half the cost that Ding's looking at.
But when my car went in for a minor warranty job I asked if I could have a new Boxster for the day - they obliged and gave me a car that had only just had its PDi done.
Before that I had a go in a new 991 with no issues.
Both cars driven with enthusiasm, as they're intended to, but not thrashed.
It's more about the rapport you have with your dealer.
Most people get given the 3 year old Cayman as a courtesy car, some OPC's only give out VW's as courtesy cars now.
They know which customers to give the nice cars to
