Afaik though the 911's are pretty spartan for the list price, you need to add to the spec as the OP has to get it as you'd expect ie comparing the OP's car to a standard Turbo is not apples vs apples.

Nice car, have you picked it up now?
By the way, I never understand why people comment on other people spending a lot on a car. Surely what you spend is relative to your means?

Yep picked it up now. The car does so much of everything poodles along like a limo or bites like a snake when you want it to. So much front end grip and overall grip, the active anti roll bars make it stick like ****. I thought my Clio 200 was like a go cart in the slower tighter corners but this will run rings around it. Its pretty nippy in a straight line for it's 400bhp, my only gripe is that it probably does too much for me so gonna have to get it on track and take the traction control off
Here's a couple i took as i picked it up. Only took a couple because i did feel a bit **** taking pics with my David Bailey camera. They are with a ultra wide 10mm lens so are more arty than proportional

Nice pics.
Does it really only feel 'nippy' in a straight line? I know a car isn't all about drag performance but that must feel pretty powerful with 400 BHP and only weighing circa 1500kgs

I'd be interested in Dings question also. I currently have a V8 414bhp M3 and was hoping one of these might be quite a bit quicker in a straight line. Do you have to rev the nuts off it like most NA engines?

It is quick, just i know that there are more than a few 400bhp scoobies so im not going to come on here and say it will kill everything No it does feel bloody quick, and from 5800 to 8000rpm it pulls like a train. It obviously has'nt got the torque of a turbo but it pulls pretty damn well from low down. Not driven the V8 M3 but my old E46 M3 cab had 360bhp and it kills that, My old scooby had 400bhp and it would kill that too. But the most gobsmacking thing is the way it handles. I have the PDCC (active anti roll bars) and its amazing

Sweet motor mate, lovely colour, and very nice choice might i add.
One of these babies is on my list of to haves, and not too far away if all goes to plan.
Think i'll be having one thats a couple of years old though, so as to shave 40k off the price, might send you a pm in a couple of years.
So nice to see one thats not the usual colours.
Umm sex wee.
Enjoy, you only live once.

Make of it what you will Jim but this shows the early 997 (?350 BHP) faster than the M3 V8. With the 991 having 400 BHP and weighing less than the 997 it should be quite a bit faster than the M3 (and so it should be for £100k!)

You know me Ding always on the lookout for my next car. Have you not changed yours yet? I am just wondering when these depreciate into my budget if they'll accelerate much quicker than the M3.
The m3 convert is well heavy compared to the coupe. I have had a play in mine with a mates gen 2 997 carrera s and another friends Cayman R and the M3 does pull a few car lengths on the 997s and completely spanks the cayman r on straights. All are DCT's/autos.

Jim, are you saying the M3 V8 is faster than the gen2 997s in a straight line??? If so that is quite disappointing because I test drove the M3 V8 and though it was very nice it felt quite a bit slower than my previous M5.
( No, haven't changed my barge yet but think about it everyday)

That is correct ding. Looking on Fastlaps the power to weight of the M3 is slightly Higher (this could be the gen 1 on the website) and the dct box seems better than his auto in the 997.
The M5 will be quicker on the straights as they have an extra 100bhp. Did you drive the dct or manual?
I know we all compare power to weight but when me and friends have 'played' in cars with very similar power to weight its always the one with the higher bhp that wins. Maybe as it's real world driving I.e rolling starts and not standing starts.
I've just text my mate an he says his is 385bhp And is the C4S.

I drove one of these yesterday and it is lovely, Scott is one lucky fella!
Slight lack of low down pull but that is more than made up for by the way the NA engine pulls further up the rev range. The engine reminds me of my old M5, ie it gets better and better all the way up to the redline where you have a little sex wee because of the screaming motorsport sounding engine.
Jim, this car feels very quick, much quicker than the M3 V8 I drove a couple of years back.
The PDK gearbox works brilliantly btw, instant up or down shifts.
It rides really well, very comfortable but planted as anything. Grip/traction is also excellent.
This may be common knowledge for those of you who have messed around with Porsches but the sport chrono pack makes a massive difference. I never really knew what it did, but it's like the M button in M cars. Select 'sport plus and everything ie suspension, gearchange, throttle response etc changes to transform the car from something quite 'relaxed' into an animal.
I don't understand why it's an option, it should be standard. Anybody who doesn't spec this is either stupid or is driving a Porsche for all the wrong reasons.
The interior is now also top notch, comparable if not better than any high end BMW, MB, Audi etc.
Anyway, I'll stop waffling and congratulate Scott again on buying such a fantastic car, it really is something.

The sport chrono was something I was a little unsure off.
It is very aggressive and I guess potentially a little wearing at times.
But it can be switched off.....so I agree - an essential option!
Why do Porsche offer it as an option and not standard?
Like everything Porsche, it makes them more £££££££!
So Ding, can you get the kids in the back?

Lovely car and if you've worked hard enough then you aren't lucky, you've earned the right to choose to have it. Coincidentally our paper boy commented to his mum why I am always on my PC at 630am and then she pointed out the connection between hard work and my own 911 (996 C4S) - only £20k's worth though.
Love the Guards Red from the front and side, but doesn't work so well with the rear lights. Duck tail looks best from the rear not the side but I would personally have only specced that on a white (or green) car - i.e. an original Carrera RS colour. Glad you got the PSE - that would always be the first option I would choose.

It's just a twinkle in my eye at the moment Zip, nowhere near a reality. The cost of ownership of this car is huge, not sure I can come to terms with it.

Yes Ding did the kids fit?
My next car will probably be a 2nd hand 991 carrera S/4S, Masser Gran Turismo or the new M3/4. I like the idea of the Pork being the easiest to squeeze into my porpers single garage.
