While rwd can be more fun, Driving a powerful rwd car on the road in the wet isnt. My granada v8 twin turbo, seems to have a tendancy to spin the wheels when i stretch out my right leg a little. The annoyoing thing is that it even happens in 5th gear ( in the wet of course ) So 4wd drive is a much better solution. Its just a little bit too much work for me. When you are already gond down the road at 120+ when you hit the throttle and it starts spinning the wheels, you dont think rwd is so good anymore. Especially when that relatively slow subaru is able to go faster because he can actually accelerate!!!!!! But hey, Im a sucker for an old bit of junk threw together with bits lyin all round my garage, even if it only will go in a straight line in the dry and eat rear tyres at 1500 miles. I luv it

Blimey, a whole page of arguement about my comment. didnt know it would open such a can of worms
All I will say is that I wrote it how I saw it. Martin was at a revs 1/4 mile track day at alconbury and had just finished doing some launches with that twin engined R5 for the camera.
The r5 did his run which left martin on the line. Martin appeared to dump the clutch then dip it about 1/2 a second later (all the engine noise dissapeared) the car continued on the donut and ended up 180 degrees to the direction he was originally facing when the wheels stopped spinning.
Seeing how even the man himself has posted on this thread he might be able to back me up or put me in my place depending on the facts.

You are spot on mate I was stood by the rear quarter of his car when he launched it and the tacho said 7000 rpm then he sidestepped the clutch that thing spun off the line like a b*stard then when he finished he did a formula 1 style spin in the way you describe to get it facing the right way top car, top bloke

"The Blade got stuffed"?? Possible, but seems strange.
Look at Bike magazine this month. The tested times at Bruntingthorpe of all the sportsbikes (GSX-R1000, R1, Blade, ZX-9, 955i) are in the mid-6 seconds to 100mph. These are totally stock bikes which would probably knock 0.2-0.3 seconds off their times with some breathing mods and lighter, freer-flowing full race exhaust systems (say £500).
And bear in mind that these are NOT drag bikes - they were all built to go round corners rather than in straight lines.
Having said that, 7.6secs for a car to 100 is a serious achievement!

Well done Martin, top effort lad...
Hummm....10k on a gearbox, I think that may be a little bit over the top....
Also not sure that he's been under 11 second for 1/4 mile...
Yep, he does hold the world record for towing a caravan something like 128 MPH...
Also Pete, Martin wasn't driving when the gearbox went....I think it was a CCC person....
Edited to say that Martin is a really, really top guy...who's not got 1 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive.......

THE REYLAND cossie....
LOL@kitcar...... but no, it ain't quite 'normal'
And my guess would be that the roll cage weighs as much as the stripped out rear seats....

Laws of physics don't apply to Cossies then ??
""in a word, nonsense! You cant have the wheels spinning without power being aplied.""
'Inertia' mean anything to you John ???
RE: 10K Gearbox, a little birdy told me it's getting a sequential time will tell .................

Someone said - "You cant have the wheels spinning without power being aplied."
That was incorrect and he should know better
No big deal, get over it !

I could point out that power is being applied by the inertia of the transmission - but i won't!!!
BTW, does anyone know if the car was trailered to germany, or was it, gulp, driven
