Here you go

I usually drive in S# and minus on the DCCD

The base STi seats are rubbish IMHO, having sat in them daily for the last 3 odd years.
Personally I preferred the Cosworth seats - much more comfy on longer journeys than the recaros - they are a bit more than retrimmed.

After just purchasing one, I do agree it is a bit of a heavy price tag for the few cosmetic changes and agree a push start plus sat-nav should have been included. But in my opinion you are not just buying a few "extras", you are buying an iconic elite member of car. Remember this is a factory standard car, so you could argue you could buy a brand new 330S and spend £15k on mods to get to the same performance. But you kiss your warranty good bye and pay through the nose for insurance. This car was £150 less to insurance than my WR1 and £750 less than my version 10 JDM which has £20k spent in mods. Plus I have three years worry free motoring as I still have the warrenty.

The best part though is the smile factor…..not only does it out perform most cars on the road….some two, three or even four times its price tag, (http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2011/07/subaru-cosworth-impreza-sti-cs400-annihilates-supercars-at-cholmondeley-pageant-of-power.html)but you know there are only 74 other cars potentially like yours……ever!!

It’s the same as the Porsche argument…..yes you can buy a Cayman / Boxster with a similar performance to a 911 to save a few grand. But everyone who bought the Caymen / Boxster wishes they could afford a 911.

Do you have the owner's manual/handbook ?
That's the best place as it gives loads of information.

It took me many pleasant hours reading it through trying to find out how everything works - part of the fun of a new car etc.
I found the diagrams about the +/- settings helped.
There is an aweful lot of stuff/adjustments to get your head round at first !

I know what you are saying, it just really does take me ten minutes to read one page....they need it on tape for me

How is the sale of yours going. I had seen it advertised on PH when I was looking for the CS400? Looks nice!

I agree it is easier with someone sitting beside you telling/showing. Perhaps if you go to a local club meet that would be the quickest way to find out most of the controls. If you were nearer I'd help.

Got 2 people "interested" but they need to sell theirs first !
As I say in the ad, its a LOT of car for the money, especially at the current price ! And only £490 FC etc etc insurance !

It was the same as my Version 10 JDM. which had thousands spent in mods. Had it on the market for about three months, lots of "I will swap you my corsa and rubber dingy", but then first guy who viewed with cash ready to spend paid asking price. I just sold my second WR1 to buy the CS400, I was so fed up of people telling me what it worth, just wanted to say "my car....my price". Again, car sold to right buyer for asking price. Just need right buyer, right car.

How did you get the insurance for that with all those mods?

If the cs400 is the same as the sti, if you press and hold the traction control button for 5 seconds the light on the dash should turn green. This dums down the traction control, EBS and torque limmiters but does not turn them off. If you press the traction contol button and let it go the light turns yellow. This is the traction control turned off. Press the button again to turn it back on. Light goes off. The abs reains on all the time, you can not turn this off.

I personally haven't found a lot of difference using the dccd + - or manual. Used the difff lock in manual a couple of times in hte snow. DO NOT use the diff lock and launch the car!!! Diff lock should only be used really in a straight line or on lose surfaces where the wheels can slip or it will knacker the centre diff

Hope this helps... Vince

Can I say that i'm really hapy there are now 3 of us (clearly slightly crazy!!) CS400 owners on here now - I was starting to feel a bit lonely, and given the slagging, a bit reluctant to confess my guilty Cosworth Secret - glad I can come out of the shadows now!!

Remember this is a factory standard car, so you could argue you could buy a brand new 330S and spend £15k on mods to get to the same performance.
If you spent £15k on a 330s the CS would't see which way it had gone in fairness

True, but you wouldnt get £15k back on the sale of the car either, as poor old Stan is experiencing.

In fairness no one would be stuch-pid enough to buy a new 330s and then spend an extra 15k on it.

The cossy is what it is and a lot of car for 40k Imo, not as much as the R205 , but then again I would say that .
I personally think it's a cracking car and had I not known about the R205 I would of bought one to.

Very true was up at £29k over a year ago and now £21k. it's going to be a struggle when similar cars have been sold for circa £16k. However the spec may not be as good as Stans that's the sort of money people pay.

Had the same problem with my Version 10 JDM, asking price of £12k (with ££££ of mods) and had people offering £8k or less. Then right buyer loved the car and paid asking price. There is someone out there for every car

Very true - also if you plan to spunk £15k on modding a car then a brand new one would be a foolish starting point anyway. Buy a 2 year old example and spunk £25k instead

I think that everybody that modifies their car knows that they most likely won't get that additional investment back when they sell the vehicle and go into it with their eyes open. IMO spending 15K on modifying a brand new 330S or STi would be utter madness if you expect a decent return on your investment - even if you sold it in that condition with zero miles you would not get anywhere near the overall cost back. Stan's car, while a cracking bit of kit, is not a new car hence the residual is going to be poor all things considered, although hopefully better than an equivalent standard version.

It will be interesting to see how the CS stands up in say 3 years time.

Interesting for my wife.....who I convinced to let me buy it telling her I will get its money back

There are three used ones a year older than mine for at the moment all for £35-40k.

2010 I think, although long delays meant customers shouldn't get one until 2011.
