Lol, no offence taken, but I was beginning to think WE didn't need much of an introduction either
Whilst the VF28 may be cheaper, it also lacks the response that the SC30 will no doubt offer. £660 inc vat for a NEW turbo is a bit of a bargain if you ask me

I would have to agree with you there martyn,as the price is awesome ,but for a guy lookin to obtain 300 bhp, there are a lot of turbos which will see him close/past that figure comfortably, without having to spend £600,especially as he is planning on only keeping it for the summer (acording to a seperate thread ).As you know the vf28 is std on a P1/Sti 5,which is still one of the quickest impreza's made to date ,so its not the best turbo ever made, but it aint the worst.
Also how can you say it lacks the response that the SC30 will no doubt offer, if it is only being tested at the moment . If your initial test have shown good results so far then it may well do so when completed. But a vf28 may lack the response ,but would make up for it more at mid/top end would it not.

From past experiences of TD04 hybrids and the advantages of a Billet compressor wheel on a huge variety of turbos.

Thanks Martynj but i only want 300bhp TOPS, so the last thing i would want is a 600 quid billet turbo no matter how good it is, and thats the point tbh its too good for what i need, ive got a 5 speed gearbox with 130k miles work, so want to limit power to 300 to stop over stressing the thing.

Prob will go for a vf28 after what ive been reading up on

Midnight mate, how well you know me but on this occasion i am prepaired to wait for the right turbo to come along,,,, um... that sounded really convincing untill i typed it

Now then, the sound my Turbo is making..... was taken on a mini cam, may try to mount somewhere else as outside the car sounds friggin aweful, soooo much louder than it sounds here.. does sound like turbo flutter here, but trust me the screaching / grinding sound makes people look round its that loud, happens more when i floor it then foot off the pedal (but NOT engaging clutch)
any ideas what it could be then???????

Er yes.
It means as he's the one spending the dosh, it's his choice what turbo he chooses, I was just trying to give him the benefit of my experience.
Funnily enough I have a VF28 fitted to my wifes 1994 Wagon as of now and it's very soon going to be fitted with an SC30 Billet test unit. We'll see for certain then if the few hundred quid extra is worth it
