jme-rst - stop while you're able to save a little face. No one here is questioning your right to express opinion. However, you're whole argument is built on sand. The sad truth is that this type of thread, rightly or wrongly, can end up tarnishing a company with a good reputation. You just hope people have the good sense to take the time to read the whole thread and not jump to conclusions. Nothing I have read would stop me spending money with Alan, in fact I have just agreed a job with him. All companies have issues, but It's how a company responds that is the key. The weight of evidence does not support your bizarre outlook. I'm sure there'll be some garbled text speak response, but I won't be creating a diologue . . . . as the saying goes: "Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference."

How on earth can you can you complain about work that was carried out before you even owned the car? I think you have made a rod for your own back by coming on here and slagging off Enginetuner when you haven't even payed them to work on the bloody car!

Even worse still is the fact that you are posting up comments from other customers experiences in an attempt to back up your claims

i have said the previous owner had problems because its true, and because i live in the vaccinity and have friends also into cars,i do hear of incidents and meet unhappy people.
its not my fault i havent met anyone in person thats a big fan of aj although the previous owner was still keen on em-ish.

so at the end of the day,i did post a couple of comments, reflecting the other side of your business,so string me up.

everyone knows not all engine tuning goes well, dont really read of any bad ones going on here though, for obvious reasons..

i have seen some of martyns work and results and some of them are imressive,i admit it.
although like you said,"you need the correct reasources etc".

and id love to hear this news that im gonna really kick myself about,

infact im intrigued pretty sure its probably fictional though
Well, we're starting to get somewhere now!
I'll admit to one thing. You've probably noticed I can be, erm, sparky. My diplomacy is of a certain kind. I tend to just tell it like it is. It's me age.

This is what I think. The actual problem is that the car didn't have as much power as you thought it would have, as that's the bit you were asking Martyn about, with no mention of idle issues. There is nothing worse than having low power. It makes you feel inadequate in front of your mates.
We have two jobs going on at once.
We're charged with producing as much power out of a car as possible. If we got your car up to 400 brake you'd think we were bloody marvellous. Unfortunately, it wouldn't last five minutes at that level!
Therefore we also have to ensure a "reasonable" amount of boost duty, ignition etc to enable you to run the car about without hurting it.
That means we have to tune it up and tune it down all at once.
If nothing else, the car is still going, which means we must have got something right!
The problem is that most owners have some basic knowledge but they are missing the details concerning tuning. That's fine as that's our job. That means they shouldn't be rushing to conclusions, not considering I'm prepared to take all the time required to explain what's going on.
I've no doubt at all that your car will be perfectly fine for you once you've got it where you want to be. It's likely to cost something, as in Martyn's view you don't have all the parts you need yet, which is why he made the choice of leaving it where it is.
Yes, I do know something!

Incidentally, the fiction here is the story about "blowing up" some Nissan on the dyno on a RR day. Tosh. We've turfed a few off the rollers that were clearly sick, but that happens frequently when somebody brings something in that needs surgery. Again, it's all about ego and loss of face.

You know where we are. Drop in any time and I'll show you what we do.
Dammit mate, life's too short otherwise.

Having had several cars built and mapped by ET I've had no issues whatsoever and 2 of the cars were on simtek, not many tuners give 24/7 support hence they will always get my business, if you have issues take it up face to face, quit being a keyboard warrior.

the bold above is the thing that really matters

it seems too much time has lapsed where any number of issues could have affected any running, imo.

i get you dont like them, and i dont have any experience of them atall, but my first port of call wouldve been to pop in, get on rollers and ask them to investigate - and remind them the car was set up there. and take from there.

ive had the old simtek on previous scoobies, and cold start and idle issues came and went, as weather extremeties changed so did the problem.

for me it was very livable with, not a problem atall, coming from carb'd fords, turning over my scooby 2 extra times on a freezing morning wasnt an issue, lol

Pop down there, have a brew and a chat and see what Alan can sort for you, he may even buy you a bacon bap from the food van up the road!

How do you know what they are like if you don't try yourself!?

So, you bought a car off someone who isn't "mechanically minded" and they told you it was all Alan's fault it had a few problems, so you start slagging his business off? What if the previous owner was wrong and it wasn't Alan's fault?

You only have a right to criticise his work if YOU have dealt with him as anything else could be entirely made up or factually incorrect.

its funny how pretty much everyone has jumped on the bandwagon and decided to slate me,its seems pretty clear by most of the members comments that actually, most of you havent even read anything ive posted.

if my comments were of a run of the mill garage none of you had heard of from down here nobody would have even posted on this thread.

alan i dont feel inadequate at all and dont have a problem really regarding power output as ive stated previosly it doesnt have a fpr.
so using that side of the arguement is clearly flawed.
still waiting for the "words of wisdom" to come from your mouth regarding my car...

you people can think what you want about me,call me names and stand behind alan all you want,im really not bothered.

The FACTS still remain that the mapper is obviously not 100 per cent capable,as cant seem to sort out an apparent "common" fault "known" with that ecu.
proof of this is my car and local impreza owners ive spoken to who after repeatedly taking their cars back, still wouldnt run right.
remember what harvey said people??

along with the fact i live in the town where the company runs its business from means i get to hear alot more feedback than most of you guys on here.

and this one is just for you alan..remember this,as thats your carpark..

That is the car with the blown engine after being ran 3 TIMES IN A ROW.
FACT!

just before the car went on the rollers, the owner was being a bit "loud" about his engine power expectations and that he was THINKING ABOUT GETTING A FORGED REBUILD.

car was put onto dyno, made 280bhp on standard internals, then the mapper told the owner there is more to come.
on the last run the car made it to about 2.5-3.5k and just died.
before the owner could even finish his sentence of "il arrange it to be t..

you jumped in and said dont bother with that well rebuild it for you for x amount.

FACT!

and thats just one car, theres others..

i await the next onslaught of ridicule and BS with baited breath...

My Faberge egg is cracked. Can I get Faberge to replace it? Little do they know it's a Creme Egg. Mwahaha!
Seriously though, mods don't vape this thread until Alan enlighten us with 'what he knows'!

5 posts, top skills! Alan actually started this thread so another posters thread was not clogged up.
Taking your good friend and Mr Jeffery out of the equation, would you think it was fair to comment in a negative fashion about a company you have never actually used? You can't continually slate someone on hearsay and others opinions.

If you think he (RST) has behaved properly in all of this, then fair enough. I don't.

No, I started it because he was having a go on someone else's thread, and he obviously needed to get it off his chest.
Yes, he's entitled to an opinion, ridiculous though it is.
Since this thread's started I've had three people call me to mention it, then book cars in! I'm happy as Larry I am..

Alan started it to stop Wiley's thread getting cluttered up and see what JME's problem is, not to slate him!

All JME's 'evidence' is hearsay and he's not had any experience with ET at all! I'm sure Alan will be back soon, he's more than likely working with customers who are/have actually have first hand experience of the company

Oh dear,oh dear, where shall i start

Alan can be what i would call a bit of a big headed gob shoit, and so am i , and i have slightly crossed swords with him in the past in my capacity as a keyboard warrior.

And he brags a bit about what he has achieved, as would i if i had done what he has

He has b4lls and the courage of his convictions, and is big enough to come on here and defend himself and his business, as do i.

But where we differ is i would have told you to **** off a long time ago, as well as disputing your parantage, and the number of brain cells you are in possession of.

Now what you have done, rightly or wrongly, IS lose all credability as well as making your self APPEAR to be immature and less than a man, now i'm not one to bring age into an argument because i know fools come in all ages and sizes, but your really not doing yourself any favours in this situation.

You live in the same town and you didn't just pop down and have a chat this is something that i am totally baffeled by, reguardless of reputation, you should go down and find out for yourself, and not believe secondhand information from those that may or may not have an axe to grind.

As if the situation was not farscycle enough you descend further, by now introducing pictorial evidence of some other nameless, faceless customer upon who's behalf you have taken up the gauntlet of truth justice and honour.

I congratulate you, as this thread will go down in scoobynet history as one of the biggest non entities to be seen ever, and as a long time member i can tell you that takes some doing.

I suggest you go away and sit in a darkened room and contemplate exactly what it is you hope to achieve in this thread and indeed in the rest of your life, rather than slating those that HAVE achieved something, without even having had any personal experience of them.

Now i suspect that your initial response on the other thread was somewhat impulsive and the result of feeling of irritation, however miss placed.

The mark of a man is the way he deals with his mistakes stroke wrong doings.

I wait with anticipation to see how you deal with yours.

Maybe Alan started this thread so JME could air his problems away from somebody elses thread. Also, it is not like Alan has asked for this thread to be locked or vaped, so to me, he seems willing to discuss the issue and not shy away. Oh, and for the record, I have had no dealings with him or his company, so any comment from me is impartial.

I think the problem here, for me anyway, is all the information from JME is second hand. He has never dealt with Alan/ET directly, and is just taking the word of people as gospel and to be 100% accurate. I'm not saying nobody has ever encountered any problems, hell Alan isn't saying that, but as others have mentioned, it's how they are dealt with. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon and slagging JME off, btw, I just think it is one thing to come on here and mention your own experiences and problems because at least you are in possession of the full facts, it's another to come on and reel off a list of other people's when you are not. Like I say, I can't personally comment on ET as I have had no experience, they may be great, they may not be, I don't know.

I've read them, but they are all based upon something that someone has told you. You don't have any first hand experience so you don't know 100% whether it is factual or not.

How do YOU know? Have YOU taken then car down to him and see if he can sort your "common" fault? What if the problem isn't the mapping/ecu as the previous owner told you? You should at least give him the opportunity to tell you what he thinks the issue is before you say he can't do his job!

P.S. I've never met you or Alan (or had any work done by his garage), but as someone who runs a company I know what damage your posts could do.

Spot on MDS_WRX
Seems to me he bought a car off someone else that had work done, at sometime, by Alan's company.
This person has told him stories.

I think he might be better off finding someone else to work on the car now anyway.

For what its worth, I've only heard good reports re:Engine Tuner - especially on the hatch forum

I've gone through this thread and I am shocked.

Why would he after two times have given up on getting said car sorted and lived with it? I have little know how with spanners and if it was me I be too paranoid it would go really bad unless it was 100% perfect.

What is the bigger crime is your "friend" who sold you the car , knew full well it was not right and because he was either , too lazy , too stupid or lying through his high teeth and passed the buck onto you.

You buy a "duff" car and then start a personal vendetta against the mapper.

Also not the brightest of things making new forum accounts so you can back your own bumpkin logic up.

I don't care who you or the mapper is in this thread , what I can't stand is people trying taint and ruin someone's livelihood with some proper keyboard warrior troll king antic.

If your so sure about things go to your local paper and ask them to run a story on it !
