35k What would you get

I think its because its much easier to talk the talk than walk the walk. When its your money I think you look upon how you spend it rather differently than in the fantasy land, but its still fun.

forget all the dont spend it, buy investment comments,
if you got the cash to spare enjoy it as you wish.
my point was as i stand 35k is an unimaginable amount to spend on a car, and so i just couldnt justify it.
but if you are, go for it. try whatever you want and buy what suits you best
enjoy

I think that hits the nail on the head. We are all offering advice from different perspectives of what £35k means to us. The only person who can understand their financial position is the OP - whether to have fun or be cautious with it. Only he knows what he really wants, what his passion is for...and I don't know anyone who doesn't have a passion for cars that is willing to spend that much on a them, which is why Im sure he has had a pretty good idea of what he will end up all along and which is why I don't really understand why people actually start these threads but fully understand why people offer advice.

Different people think in different ways. I have just finished my Hawkeye build https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...wkeye-sti.html and the e92 project will be my next port of call. Devalued? Considering the kit can be removed I think not. If you don't like, don't buy it. Simple.

The E90 suspension is so good that it is well matched to 550HP? What is the advantage over an R35 apart from a softer ride?
The balance sheet for the original modifier of an expensive car (and a cheap one where the mods can easily exceed the car) are nearly always a disaster, giving considerable hassle selling and to a limited audience. Personally I have found ownership of cars with mods you can remove in minutes to an hour much easier and more fulfilling than my Subaru which ended up with over double it's factory power.

I do get that Impressive gain for $14k kit (without the brakes and suspension) and it would be an interesting proposition at that price if you lived in the Southern states to use it, but they are changing suspension and brakes. As an ownership proposition, at UK prices, with UK rainfall and with the prices of insurance, modification and resale, it wouldn't get my vote.

But you are right.....with the sensible head on the choice can only be a GTR. Never thought that "GTR" and "sensible head" could be used in the same sentence

Life generally isn't short as I find with lots of 80 and 90 year olds that keep coming to see me to try to keep them going
Coming from a poor background and watching every penny, purchasing carefully (and then not frittering on inappropriate mods) is the name of the game for enjoying nice cars without spending a fortune, getting in debt or losing your play fund too quickly.

I'd just get an Exige and a divorce

I was in a similar position
£35K to spend, traded in my cayman for a C63 AMG saloon
2011 model, 18000 miles, £36K
Have had a couple of porkers before - very very impressed with C63 - very very fast car and the sound - nothing like it.
Worth having a drive
And dont believe the stories about 12mpg/150 mile range etc - 23mpg and 250 mile range is more like it
