For a car probably a maserati quattroporte, Or Porsche 997 but tend to favour 4x4 at the moment so Porsche Cayenne or a Range Rover. OK not to everyone tatse but I just like them
Saying that I think I would end up been too scared to use either the Range Rover or the Cayenne off road so would probaly get a £5K to 10K shogun for playing around / dirty jobs and the rest on a BMW 123D or 530D.

35k gets alot of car if you look at low milage examples as well, you take such a big hit when you drive off the forcourt.
realy depends what sort of car you want, 2 door, 4 door, sports, saloon, etc etc etc

you will struggle with an M5 for near 35k, new ones are still 60-70, older ones are 25ish

Try a GTR, and then compare the rest to it. At or near this money it is the benchmark for useful performance in something reasonably new and reliable that could be an only car. Decide mainly whether you can live with the running costs and firm ride, and whether alternatives give you a better blend according to your preference, but trying a GTR first will give you a benchmark IMHO.
Only dismiss the 335i once you've tried one. I was very near to purchasing one having tried the rest!

If i had £35k to spend on a car, i wouldnt just be buying one car!
For that budget its definately got to be something usable and sensible parked next to your bonkers toy!
Id say a bmw 330d, next to a road converted tuscan race car... that'd be a nice mix.

I think its all relative. When I went from a 1.2 Polo to a V6 Cougar many moons ago I couldnt imagine how anyone could want more power, it felt like a supercar to me. If you're Chris Evans and lost your collection of hypercars and was told you could only buy a car worth £35 I recon you would be pretty miserable.

For £35k the world is your Oyster.
997 Carrera S?
96 Turbo, GT3?
RS4
M3
Or what about an Aston Martin V8 Vantage? Might not be as quick as the Porsche, but looks way way better. The noise alone.........
Bentley Conty GT?
Suppose it just depend what your after? Weekend toy, every day car, or something just to cruise around in?

I cant see the point in having 35k in a car unless your going to show it to its full potential. I would sooner buy a 20k car and spend time on some serious track action both uk and overseas.
Each to their own I suppose.
Rob
ps - How much is it to enter the Gumball3000 LOL

im going with the 2 car option, a beast and a daily motor
failing that, if a good gtr can be had at that money, that would be my choice.
lucky man
i just couldnt spend that much on a car.

Ive just gone through what you are going through and cant think that i could of made a better choice. As many know ive had most subarus at many different levels But my 996 twin turbo porsche i now own is seriously the best car ive brought and owned.
M3 ive done it no sound to it and far to many around
gtr for the money and running costs they are a big machine to use every day.
m class very nice but you will get bored .
I would go test drive 3-5 cars and see how you feel,But week after week my996 tt with an extra 90bhp and 100ft trq is pure class. 35k low mileage 1-2 owners fpsh 200mph super car ...
ps im paid up for.
30-130 the weekend
Cat driver training next month
Ring in may .

£35K? With mortgage rates / property prices as they are, I would use it as a deposite on several investment properties.
Give it 4 years and that £35K will be worth far more, so you would be looking at far better cars.
Failing that, £35K ? I would get a good 4x4, Mitsubishi Shogun Diamond and some sporty RS4 B5.
