Jacko, your missing the point a bit here - does Kieren have the right to go around telling other road users how they should be acting, and demanding they do what he says - or he will go and snitch on them? also, would he have stuck his neck in the car if it was some 20 stone german shot-putter driving? I think we know the answer to that one, as its already been pointed out that Kieren is built like an 'out house' I imagine the accused is some 7 stone teenager at best? Just because he rides a bike, it does not give him or any other rider to go acting like some jumped up plastic copper! Like I said before, I'd have told him where to stick it!

To be honest I don't find the idea of Kieran playing 'citizen on patrol' with his helmet cam very cool at all, or issuing threats to motorists etc.

OTOH if someone is swigging beer behind a wheel I feel something should be said but that is not necessarily 'stop or I'll tell the police'.

So on balance he probably did the right (ish) thing.

I've said before that this is not the case at all - the cam was specifically bought for seeing daft, fun and very rarely dumb things I see on my 12 mile commute.

I've fired emails off to companies about GOOD driving (I owe DHL one at the moment) with links to the vids showing why.

It's never been about gathering evidence, just about showing what life has to offer when you're out cycling

I wish more people like Kieran would stand up for what they believe in instead of the majority of us uttering under their breath the disgust they have of others.

It's the same if I see someone littering, I'll ask them to pick it up. I don't care how big they are, I'm not that big but it's the principle.

As far as I know you are perfectly entitled in law to speak to anyone and ask them politely to do/not do anything if you dont like it, some people are different, some dont have any principles or care, some do and it doesnt mean they are a "citizen on patrol", generally means they have a bit of judgement and strength of character to think that something isnt right and then do something about it, or at least attempt to, sometimes just so they dont feel guilty for not saying anything later on.

The population of this country seem to do as they please, the courts and Police are powerless a lot of the time, two fingers up and carry on as before, most of the population turn a blind eye as they either dont care or are scared to say anything, the ******* rely on these factors and do whatever they want, sometimes they love to get someone to confront them so they can have a go as they are too stupid to do anything else.

So, you can live in fear or apathy, picking your way through litter strewn, vandalised streets or you can occasionally ask someone to stop, if more people did this then it would be a better place where we perhaps wouldnt need to ask or ignore so often.

Yes, how could a moderator possibly be an upstanding citizen who intervenes when he sees someone drink driving, what would happen if he posted that he saw a bloke driving whilst swigging from cans of beer and ignored it ?

by the way, moderator, it kind of comes with the territory, he was moderating other road users whilst out on his bike, old habits and all that

The reason I posted it was to stimulate debate - which it clearly has. I know what I did was open to interpretation and after I got home I did wonder whether I'd done the right thing.

So, I figured it was worth posting about the incident to see how other people reacted to the story, and what their own viewpoints would be.

We've had everything in this one thread: support, derision, confusion, ignorance, questions, humour

I think it's been worthwhile myself, and I don't have a problem with having my decisions put up for constructive scrutiny.

I'm the kind of person who goes and helps, I just do; others on here don't. Some people think you should never get involved and leave to the people in authority.

I've enjoyed reading this topic personally

I don't mean that way J4CKO, he knows what the occupants of this forum are like and must have known the outcome of this post. As soon as I seen it, I knew exactly what the replies would be by the majority of regulars. I agreed with what Kieran done but considering that SN is vastly over populated by the newbreed of subaru drivers that can only be compared to braindead Nascar hillybillys/chavs, I assumed he would be branded a terrorist against the rights of said slack jawed yokels.

I'd have told you to crack on, then finished my beer.

I should add that I rarely touch alcohol and certainly not in the car.

Absolutely, law abiding motorists should be free to enjoy a refreshing can of Stella whilst driving without fear of harassment off two wheeled road captains, after all what possible damage can a "Lycra Lout" sustain from an inebriated driver, none they just bounce off !

I myself am installing optics from the roof of my car and exchanging all the seats for nice leather bar stools, perhaps a few Toby Jugs and Horse brasses and it will practically be a mobile country pub, cyclists are barred though, c*nts

I should very much like to join you for a G&T in your booze mobile. With luck we will find some gobby over opinionated cyclists to be little along our way.

But we should beware a ghayer on here who can bench 800KG's is 6feet 9 tall and is handsome as they come said KB is a big one. Think the guy also earn 900k a year and drives a 1996 Classic worth 2k.

[quote=New_scooby_04;10100235]Have you ever met Kieran in person, mate?

He's a bit of a beast I wouldn't have argued with him and I'm 6 foot, 15 stone and can bench 300+ lbs

If he tells you to ditch your Stella, you ditch it!

Ghey post of the year right there^^^^^...

your in a ton and a half of steel, but do as the cyclist says...
feeble attempt at brown nosing i call that!...i make this i think your 2nd or 3rd attempt at leaping to KB' aid. He does'nt need it.

Certainly, there is a huge chance that Kieran could have found himself face down on the Hospital Bed with 5 nurses trying to remove a Mountain Bike from his rear end .... and he couldn't have said anything as there would have been a mickey mouse headcam rammed in his gob!!

And I would feel obliged to go visit him - take him some Grapes and offer words of condolence ..... and I'm a bit busy at the moment
Thanks Pete, that post brightened up my evening.

So Kieran, have you reported him to the police doing your moral duty?

Can we see the video and make up a more informed opinion which will also open this thread up for more debate?

Can we see a picture of you so we can see if NS04 is a liar....
