All it needs is the police to give bloody powers to cyclists to shop errant drivers with their poxy cams and it completes the dustbin men shopping us for the wrong kind of rubbish, park wardens shopping our kids for picking flowers etc.
There was no evidence he was drunk, so what if he was having a drink of stella, you cant prove it was his first or 5th.

I think he had every right to tell you to **** off and get out of the car to prove his point

The one valid point is what difference does it make weather it's beer or water, if you are under the limit.
Where someone chooses to drink alcohol is their choice.

As stated it's not something i would do, but thats more to do with liking a nice pint of ale while reading the paper in my local, than the rights or wrongs of this particular situation.

Miles apart mate. If you recall I was concerned about the safety of my kids and the speed that people drove down the road in a 40mph. I was simply trying to raise awareness to that fact. I was not trying to assert my will on them, I did not bully them into slowing down . Maybe if I was like Kieren I should have stopped some of them, given them a damn stern telling off and said I would report them to the police unless they got their driving licence out and threw it into the verge ?
Like others I think anyone drinking any alcohole while driving deserves to be reported.
If I was in your shoes I don't think I would have told him to poor it away but I would of phoned the fuzz.

In Kieran's defense, he didn't go out looking for this guy, he just happened to pull up next to him at a set of traffic lights. Also, however much you want to argue that the guy "wasn't necessarily over the limit", the sight of someone knocking back special brew at the wheel is really not what you expect in a built-up area in a supposedly civilized corner of the globe, so it's a touch unfair to judge what was almost certainly a spur of the moment reaction to it.
But obviously, if that's one of your hobbies ...

Sorry folks, but despite the valid points and some good natured leg pulling there are a few people on here who don't know when to stop.
I appreciated the points made (and the micky taking) and it's all made me think seriously about how I reacted.
Just for info: the mode of travel was irrelevant, my reaction at the time would've been just the same if I had been on foot. The fact that I had a camera was irrelevant, it was on and in use for entirely different reasons.
I'm closing the thread now as it's simply degenerating into one insult after another and while we've been very tolerant so far - insults to the web team are simply not allowed.
If you wish to take this up - do so in Policy. Stu will clarify any points I've made.
