hi jura looks like things are coming along for you. I had the same problem with the heads i had sources initially, luckily for me paul had a mint set of big port heads so worked out better in the end so hopefully will work out better for you too. Was very annoying though and a waste of money but i got over it. Also interesting about the borg warner turbos, look forward to seeing the results if you use one

Hi Ian

Hopefully we will source JDM heads in better shape. If I know they're in this condition I wouldn't brother with them

About the Borg Warner S300 series I'm still not sure, have good review over in USA,but I don't want laggy turbo

Little update:

We're bought Syvecs S6 PnP again for our wagon and we will go with I/O Expander, not sure if we will go with Syvecs one or TimH I/O expander, but from speaking with Tim looking like both I/O expanders are comparable in many ways, price will be hope so too comparable

Features on I/O Expanders are nice like on board barometric pressure sensor,on board EGT amplifier,on board 2XCANbus and GPS and plus have on board Bosch LSU amplifier, which will allow us to run Bosch LSU 4.2 or 4.9 which are regarded as good wideband sensors and they're cheaper too

Block should be assembled this week, but main issue are now heads, which we will need to have,we are want to run 2.5L heads but we can't use them

We are bought Saturday H&S Rotated setup with GT35r and Turbosmart Pro-Gate Wastegate. This kit is good, but we are now deciding what will be best to do,keep the this kit or go with Front mounted turbo setup

As many people know us we are changing plans

With front mounted turbo setup our wagon will be unique/one off and really we are decided go with Front Mounted Turbo setup and GT35r,my brother like this idea

We are have promised ScoobyClinc GT30r,but seller decided to sell to someone else, shame about this,we will be running GT35r for now,if will be too big and laggy on this setup, but don't think will be laggy, just due we will be using few things which will bring the spool to lower RPM.

If yes we will swap in later date for ScoobyClinic GT30r and we will see

Still we don't have JDM Big port heads and looking like on Wednesday we are gong on one set have look, hopefully they will be OK for our build,if not we are stuck

Jura didn't Daz have a 35r front mounted...or was that only a 30r?

Cracked heads are very common hope you get it sorted.

Hi Ian Daz think run 35r on his 2.5L,I would be very happy with similar spool and 600bhp

About the heads hopefully we will find good heads without the cracks.

Few updates:

Neil started build the block which should be ready this week and will send me the pictures later on and I will post when we are receive them

We are been few days ago at Leeds pick up again JDM big port heads and we are bought again wrong set, everything is OK on them, just head faces are not flat, they're have spits and will needs to be skimmed and this will/can ruin compression

At moment we are have 3 sets of the heads, one set of the cracked heads, which are OK for moderate power, but not for 600bhp,

Second set are Spec c heads, but on them will needs to be done valve reseating(as Neil said,he never seen Spec C heads in such state),plus there are missing cap bolts and valve caps

Third set is for which are been today are not good too and for us are useless,as Neil said, they will needs to be regardless skimmed but we can end with compression and in our case,is not the best option and Neil those don't recommend to use

Literally we are fed up with that and really is almost joke(absurd in many ways) to have 3 sets of the heads, which are in such a poor state,in our case we can't have build which is without the problems

Few days ago we are learn, our mum have stomach cancer(we are spoken with sister about this, she said looking not good) and really not the best start to New Year in every single way

Sorry to hear about you mum mate. Awful news.

The last set of heads, why can't they have new chambers CNCd for the correct CR and be decked flat?

Thanks guys, really appreciated for your support, probably we will be going on few days on Slovakia, our sister is there and she us inform on any changes,we will know more in couple of days

About the heads, last set we are returned and we will be not using them,as Neil said, they will need to be skimmed and we can end with higher compression ratio and he don't recommend that

Yes we can CNC'd them, but if we can buy better set of the heads we rather buy them,if not,not sure about the UK STi heads which really we want them to use

Jura

Sorry to hear about your mum Jura, hope she gets well quick.

Regarding the heads, have you though about using D25 WRX head casings with your valve train? Works well on 2.35. Also Darren@jdm is selling freshly built Spec c heads.

surely if you have bought 3x sets of heads and travelled up and down the country it would have been easier/similiar cost to simply find some "as new" (or even new casings)??

very sorry for your family illness

Thanks guys again and really we are really appreciated for yours support

Kas,I'm looking at this option, just we are must be sure we can use those cams on the D25(2.5L AVCS WRX heads),I don't want again next heads, which we will never use, thanks again

Ian Advanced Automotive is our last resort, really we are not looking to spend those money for heads

Ricky thanks and hopefully you are right

Alyn agreed we should have for those money now new heads(or "as new"),but this we are never know,we will end up with 3 sets of the heads,we will end at the end only with one set and this is first set which we are bought as first. Our last set has been sent to seller and hopefully he will refund us

And again thanks,really appreciated

Jura I feel for you mate as I did the same thing with the heads scenario,I bought two sets one set got sent back as they where not as described"JUNK" the other set was sold as big port heads and when I took them to Neil to look at they where just standard sti uk heads,so in the end I just got feed up and bit the bullet and purchased a brand new set of jdm big port heads.which in hindsight I wish I had done in the first place,I guess you have to live and learn sometimes.

Those cams are to suit AVCS with shim under bucket & shimless bucket. They wont work with shim over bucket. Does anyone know if the D25 wrx heads are shim over? Hope this link helps http://www.subaru-impreza.org/forum/...-required.html

Also more info on your cams here - http://kelfordcams.com/applications.aspx

Very frustrating about the heads, the first set had severe cracks around the seats. The second set arrived with no cam caps and had burnt valve seats from what looks like over use of antilag. The third although being the better had deep gouges around the combustion chamber and faces. Although we could have made this work, it wouldn’t have been ideal or cost effective. Right now the heads are not an issue, I have a set of spec c heads here that can be used if we run out of time. Failing that the D25 heads can also be used. The block is being finished next week, then onto the heads.

Hi Neil

As you said, its very frustrating about the heads,we are tried to source heads, but we are failed on this, quite miserably

With last set,we are said,we are bought finally better set,yes when I've seen them,we're been concerned with those spits, but at least seller has been happy to take them back

We will see if we can get JDM Big port heads if not we will have look on the D25 heads which at least don't suffer with cracking around the spark plugs and hope so they will be in better shape

If not really not sure after that,as you are said,we can use yours Spec C heads, but we are know, you would love use them on yours build and as we know, they're in great condition

Thanks again for your help Neil and for support and as per email thanks for your support,we are very appreciated

Jura
