How you going to know you still have the full 12inch roll out? You going to get some help staging?

All legal so if the same case applied to Usain Bolt then I dont see why not.

In reality, I suspect most people when lining up will stop at or around the point where the 2nd stage lights up so will have the 12 or so inches free anyway. For those however that push through and inch ahead on the 2nd stage lights then there will be more of a gain as its better to have the full rollout.

I've just checked my vbox logs and in the first 12inches its taking my car around 0.2secs to cover 5mph, see here...

Now this is calculating the full 12 inches, If very shallow stage is 0 inches and very deep stage is 12 inches then I would gain 0.2secs by very shallow staging and be at 5mph before the timing beams started. I have been inching forward so deep staging but probably not as much as 12 inches, probably more like 8inches but knowing what I know now about shallow stage, I shall be launching now from 0 inches so i have the full 12 to take advantage of

I'm back again on Saturday if conditions are good so I will give it a bash then. If it's a lot of bollocks, I'll say so, but in theory as Alloy has said, it does sound logical and if it yields a tenth then it's a no brainer.
All fine and dandy if both drivers know this, otherwise the results are void IMO. From that link:

"As the driver, you can "cheat" the timers through smart use of the "staged" beams..."

While it may not be breaking the rules, if you're trying to compare two cars down the strip it's pointless if one driver cheats the timers and the other doesn't. Especially if it's worth 0.2 seconds as you've calculated.

As soon as the 2nd stage light comes on this indicates the full 12 inches are available for the rollout so as soon as I spot the 1st lights are lit, I will creep forward ever so gently until I spot the 2nd stage lights lit. This will then give me the full 12 inch rollout.

What I have been doing in the past is not paying attention as to how far I am rolling forward to activate the 2nd set of lights, probably in most cases a few inches beyond but recently I have been going way beyond this by another few inches. Budging forward to shorten the distance between the car and the finish line. Even 6 inches ahead for me indicates a tenth saved, never mind the full 12inches between very deep stage and very shallow stage.

Here is a list of my times from my last 1/4m event...

http://www.crailraceway.co.uk/showdr...ate=2011-09-04

Quickest time of the day was 11.69 @ 118.7mph with a 1.76 60ft time. However, I was deep staging the majority of these runs and later in the day I then recorded an 11.70 @ 119.4mph with a 1.86 60ft time and then a 11.74 @ 120.3mph with a 1.92 60ft time.

If I managed the same 1.76 60ft on that latter run I would have run 11.5x and the only reason I didnt was because I was playing about with deep staging. Even my initial 11.69 was a good few inches into the 12ft rollout as at the time I had no idea about any of this. It's looking back on it now that I can see something in this.

Like I said, I can only give it a bash, if it's a lot of bollocks I'll soon say so. If I dont hit an 11.5x next weekend then i'll be pretty pis*ed now

True, but it could go to explain why some people are better at 1/4m racing than others? Same cars, same power, similar driver skill etc but 1 car always has the edge over the other. Perhaps it is a secret that they dont let out to be 1 step ahead of everyone else, I dont know but if there's something in it, then it's certainly worth exploiting to its maximum.

Let us know the times, but make sure you do standard and staged on the same day or atmospheric and other conditions could count for the difference.

Out for a few more miles. The GTR rattles at idle more than my Scoobies twin plate clutch. Adds character I recon.

Haven't noticed the foot rest, but the heat of the centre console is enough to fry an egg on after a few hours driving. I noticed it a lot on the drive to Litchfields. I think changing the y-pipe helps with the heat?

She can drive it if she wants... but she would get bored at a dyno day. Got a friend driving it, so I can drop the GTR off with Robbie afterwards

No, nothing done to it since the last dyno session where it got 471bhp. And he's not insured for it

Went in to Valet Magic today to have the alloys and engine bay protected. Car had a quick wash too and probably looked better than the day I collected it. Top man Robbie and nice set up there. Also bought a cleaning kit with lambs wool wash mit, drying towel, shampoo and some Zaino spray.

He also sorted me this Miltek resonated Y-pipe

Not fitting until after optimisation

Graham, you heard the news - Scarlett Johansson has been a naughty girl taking some nude photos of herself

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...s-herself.html

Do a search on Google and you will find 'em.
