Where does the Nuclear waste go?
The Abbysal plains and troughs in the deep oceans?(Apparently illegal).
Buried deep on desearted islands?.
Recycling?.
The life of Radioactive material can range from 1000yrs up to 1 million yrs, is this true?
Not being hysterical about this, it's just governments and nuclear energy companies dont say much, are the masses being kept in the dark?

They are dropping water from choppers onto reactor 3 now, just waiting for the same nuclear experts who were so confident a few days ago to tell us on TV this is 'normal' and a radiation leak cannot happen.

In this day and age its all designed by computer modelling, and the engineers designing it doesn't have the excercised brain power to do it manually or think outside the box of what their computer tells them. That added that the bean counters have alot more leverage so everything will be built to a limited budget. As such, it won't be overenginered to withstand unforeseen extremes where simulations didn't model the real world situation accurately enough to account for oversights or unforeseen anomalies.
If people were prapared to pay 3 to 4 times what they pay for the house now then they would be overdesigned. its always a toss up between cost to build and design spec.
All buildings are designed to set building codes and design specs. They are constatnly being amended and updated, so is it time for things to become more tollerant for extreams?
depends if people will accept a 20% increase on everything or not, cos dont forget it will affect everything from houses to milk on the supermarket shelf.

So the sea creatures get damaged instead !

So you have no problem the way the media have reported the power plant problems in Fukushima?
The way the media have to mention Chernobyl in every news piece?
"devastating nuclear disaster"
"Harmful levels of radiation"
It might well get worse but at first the media jumped on this like locusts?
Have a yourself.
No one said it couldn't happen. It appeared to be contained - my argument is that even when it looked like things were under control, the media was pushing the holocaust scenario for all it worth.

Yep it's an unprecedented scenario; multiple reactors in jeopardy, hydrogen explosions etc.
I agree the media sensationalises but the way 'experts' talk on TV is so deliberately dispassionate and carefully worded as to be just as absurd; just 'lawyer talk'. The nuclear industry has a history of lying so it's no surprising we have this level of mistrust and worry.

Heres a good link, showing areas of Japan before and after the quake+tsunami.
The amount of destruction is horrendous.
