BC Racing Time Attack Impreza #6

Hi Alyn
It was a Supersports 600 race bike with a pro rider. He went out and did 5 laps and I had to go out and beat his best lap His best was 1.19.45 and mine was 1.18.9 at that time on 1.8 bar of boost and a 50 shot of nos. I went quicker in the final with a 1.17.8

Alyn, the bike was nowhere near road legal. It was a full on racer.
I thought Duncan would get his **** kicked by the bike and as a joke I put the pit board out during his laps with P2 on it.
On the pit straight the bike was substantially quicker but Duncan simply got round the track quicker.
I was astounded when I heard the times but credit where credits due Duncan was quicker round the track than a full on 600 racer with a pro rider was.

Heres my video from the final at Snetterton:
http://vimeo.com/30007669
The day was really trouble free all in all apart from changing an uppipe gasket but great to have my regular two helpers in Julian and Daz there to make sure it was all singing sweetly. Without their volunteer support it would have been an impossible challenge this year but to end up in 4th place in the championship having posted times in every single session at every single round of 2011 counts a lot in reliability as well as determination of the team to get it out there. Cheers guys 8)
Back to the final itself if it wasnt for the messing around racing the bike I would have had enough NOS left for another hot lap in the final to try and get the 0.073 seconds that I needed for 2nd place but it wasnt to be. As you can see from the in car video, the lap wasnt perfect with a particular chunk of lost time at the esses (or whatever they are called now lol) however 3rd place was a great result and was very pleasing to end the year in a car that is properly competitive. The power and the handling are there, just a few tweaks, weight loss and other bits and it will be there in the mix for 2012
Thanks to BC Racing for their support this year and I look forward to 2012 working with them.
Also to Lateral Performance, Finch Motorsport, ABW, Keith Michaels, CJS Norwich, Syvecs, Triton Motorsport, ASP, Revolution 247 and all the support of customers and friends on here

it was no doubt as road legal as your car is Duncan - there is very little in a S/sport build that would negate being road legal apart from the fact it would have no lights but this complies with a "daytime use" MOT anyways..............
Daz a bike on a 120mm front & 180mm rear (curved!!) contact patch will always lose out to a fat tyred, well set-up car in terms of handling / stopping
happy days either way

Alyns right though, the bikes no where near as as removed from standard as Duncs car but that doesnt change the fact that we were all 100% convinced that Dunc was going to get his *** handed to him.
Still makes me smile when they announced that Dunc was winning and we didnt have a number 1 for him and had to leg it to the pits to get one because as we all assumed he was going to lose

Not a bad day on the new engine that had less than 2 miles on it before running on track that morning.

Was it damp when the bike was running?
I was at Snetterton a couple of weeks back and a Supersport 600 bike lapped in 1:11.2 on a dry track. Seems a massive difference to when you were there.

Time to ressurect this thread and update a little on preparations for 2012 Time Attack.
Focus for this year will be more reliability - putting in a timed hot lap in every session of every round last year was testament to a good reliable car but needs to be quicker now
With the new 2.35 engine going in towards the end of last year with just under 800bhp, the power is there to be competitive, now the car is on a diet along with some sexiness in other areas.
Will update photos in the next week to show progress (there has been a good amount of work done) but still LOADS to do pre 2012 season to get it running again.
I am very proud to have the backing of BC Racing again for the season and existing sponsors from last year sticking with me / the car to build on what we have acheived - thiis year plans to be much better and with some new sponsors / supporters on board too, the future is looking good. More details soon
Anyway I will leave with a couple of simple pics:
New hydraulic release bearing from RCM to mate up with the pedal box
The wiring loom from behind the dash eeeek that is now relegated to the bin while I make up a new loom which weighs a 1/10 th of what this does.
Some 3D scanning of the underside of the rear of the car ... more will be revealed on this soon
