This is on the new 2.35 engine built by Finch Motorsport just before Anglesey, running custom Lateral internals and running e85 and a 75 dropping to 50 shot of nitrous

It's amazing how much difference the nitrous makes. That's about +180ftlb @ 4k. The mid range must feel ballistic.

Are the heads your 2.5 items Dunc or new? Had much work done on them now or just the kelfords?

The heads are entirely std with std valves, only work is to allow the kelford cams to rotate with cosworth single springs.

STD inlet manifold too.

It will make 800+ but I have to sort the in tank fuel pump out as it was running out of puff and unable to keep up with demand properly (or at least I think that is what was happening) Still that is an easy fix.

Got to says thanks to Paul Finch for building such an amazing engine and to Mark at Lateral for the engine & internals itself. 2.35 is the way forward for proper big power 4 cylinder EJ engines.

Felt great at anglesey but havent driven it since and it wont get used til sunday now at Snetterton. Having over 600 lb/ft available from 4300 to almost 7000 makes for a flexible power band

What's the weak point on these 2.35 engines.... is it still headgasket concerns?

I remember when I drove my old car running on Q16, making over 600ftlb in the mid range. It was starting to feel slightly crazy.

Very impressive that.

Stunning work Duncan

What size in tank pump are you running? I didnt realise an in tank pump could provide enough fual to provide this much power.

Lee.

Just running a walbro in tank to feed the swirl pot and a Fuellab Prodigy pump to feed the pressure system. Thinking that the walbro cant supply enough to keep up with demand. Will get a bigger in tank solution before the std tank comes out over the winter ready for the very big plans for next year

Interesting to see difference between non nitrous and nitrous.

Are you monitoring fuel pressure on the syvecs?

We had the big pump in slow speed mode, which is equivalent to the smaller pump on high speed, and it couldnt keep up with the demand for VP Import at the 700 range on RCMS dyno, spotted by fuel pressure dropping. We switched to high speed mode and it coped fine to 770 without nitrous. The engine doesnt need as much VPI as E85 so perhaps its the main pump that is struggling if you are running that kind of power.

Low boost level for the given power.

Ah - maybe then. No got fuel pressure logged - will add that into syvecs.

It will be fine for this weekend as it will get at most 2 laps at this level then time to plan a few changes in the closed season.

Cheers Steve

very nice

Presume that there isn't a fuel pressure sensor as standard on a newage?

I don't think the head gaskets have been much of a concern on the 2.35 engines using a EJ22T CDB ... much more so on the 2.5's. The 2.35's if properly built are about as tough as they get.

Just woke up after a brillianr dat at Snetterton yesterday for the final round of 2011.

Had a smooth day with no major issues - only issue was a blown uppipe gasket which was easily changed.

Massive thanks to Julian Osburne and Daz Davies for their help all weekend and for Drew and Steve on sunday - couldnt have done the year without you guys.

A great year up in pro class with the big boys - full report and thank you list coming soon along with video of Snetterton.

Superb day and chuffed to bring the taste and smell of cheap champagne to the team and give BC Racing another podium
