Do you think it had something to do with the powdercoating process?

I can't see it really Bren but until I get the wheels back to them (and possibly even then) we wont know. They had done 3 hard seasons on the car but I wouldnt have though the grip generated by the pirellis was enough to do this.

Not sure how hot the wheels get in the powdercoating process ...

Wheels get very hot in the powder coating process to be honest. And there is a lot of blame place on powder coating for wheel deformation.

However, I would possibly be more inclined to think that hitting the rumble strips on the apex of corners would contribute more to the damage than that of the grip generated surely?!

This is the data comparison between me (red line) and Gav in the NR Autosport car from his time in the final (blue line) that made my mind up that more power was needed

Almost all the time lost was through the straights (apart from charlies 1). I clawed half a second back through the mountain section and hall bends but still way short of challenging the overall time.

Great driving & awesome video mate Pity about the wheels

(ps replacing my suspect VF37 with a mint VF36 in a month or so, will give you a ring nearer the time to sort out a bit of mapping )

I would be more inclined to say they have more than likely reached the end of there useful "life"

You going for proper motorsport wheels?

I have seen similar on others wheels but never on the spokes almost always the bead cracking in one or more places. Various manufactures too Speedline, Dymag, Revolution... None of which had been powder coated!

Certainly a lucky escape

Bad news with the wheel Dunc, bet you where gutted to not have the car fully fit for the final, however at least the broken wheel never caused a major incident I was thinking about buying another wheel or two just incase this happened, I know I use a lot of kerb as well so I suppose its inevitable its gonna happen sooner or later

2.35L hope you get the extra umph required and it gets you up front,
good luck,
Lee.

These were powdercoated in march so if they were gonna go they would have gone way before this I think. Just think it was an age thing with them personally.
