Canada Goose isn't bad for a coat. You can get a a bomber jacket like thing, and various parkers, including the expedition and snow mantra. It's every so slightly overkill for walking form the car to the shopping centre when it's just a bit chilly, but when you're in -18 plus windchill, so about -30, and clearing silly amounts of snow from the driveway, it's not half bad
For a fleece, I've got a windriver one, think it's a Mark's Work Wearhouse own brand thing. It's not at all fashionable but does keep you rather warm. I've got a couple of CK fleeces and they aren't too bad either, only got them as they were on sale as silly prices, $17 vs the usual $88.

My gore-tex shell is one of the best bits of clothing I have ever bought. When ever I go on holiday it's one of the 1st things I pack.
I'm sure you've spent money on a 'record player' that I would think silly.....

I don't think it's about that. If you spend a lot of time outdoors and you want to by warm, dry and not sweat like a pig. Too hot....remove a light weight layer.

Rab is the only one for me IMO, in the Army so have to go out in the cold regular, Outer layer has to be RAB, however cannot beat a nice BUFFALO shirt for under clothing.
Guys here wear nothing but black North face jackets and have the big North face bags, all think they are in the SAS, C*nts.

I have quite a few bits and bobs by Craghoppers, they do the Bear Grylls range. Its great quality clothing and just what you need in this weather.

I also have a couple of Berghaus fleeces which are also great quality.
