North Face Clothing - Any good?
Freezing my nads off here in Hertfor****e.
I've seen a few people wearing North Face stuff - Is it pukka gear?
Spotted this online

Anyone wear it? Does it keep you dry as well as warm?

Used to be! It seems to have taken over from Burberry as the chav uniform. Try a Buffalo Windshirt, you can put it under whatever other coat you are wearing and it is great at keeping the heat in but not being cumbersome.

North Face clothing is like the Burberry of the upper middle working classes.
If you need something warm and waterproof just go the Millets and find something equally serviceable at third of the price.

Those damned lower upper working classes, thinking they are better than the middle upper working classes. How dare they?
Think of the lower upper working classes....they have it tough!

I like it
Yes it does keep me warm and dry (I do a lot of fell walking) but I agree it is the brand of the moment - every other person wearing it in Tesco yesterday.

I prefer to think of myself as a chap who works hard and who pays a good amount of tax / NI into the system and who keeps some local country pubs in business
To be honest - I don't really care about "Fashion" - If it will keep me warm and dry - That's all it needs to do!
We went to an outdoor pursuits place in Welwyn Garden City that was selling stuff off with huge discounts but the cheapest they had was £159.99 (with £100 off) It didn't come with the option to unzip an outer layer and the internal pockets weren't as good! Need somewhere safe to store the iPhone etc!
Anyhoo - Bought the coat online and got the wife something along the same lines.
Mark.

I love The North Face stuff. Wish I could afford their ski gear, but will have to stick to my Helly Hansen stuff for now.

Yeah agree, it's a bit common. A respectable outdoor brand being taken over by townies/chavs like Sprayway was in the early 90's.

Whatever you do, buy nothing by Superdry. Going totally against my philosophy of never buying brands, we recently bought our twelve-year-old lad a coat because he'd set his heart on one and it was his birthday wish. First couple of days, the elasticated drawstring in the neck area pulled out. It appeared to be tacked to a tiny piece of cloth inside the jacket instead of being securely attached. Got it replaced, only for it to happen again. Got it replaced, had it a couple of months only for the same thing to happen again twice in the bottom hem of the jacket. They are a pile of SH1TE.
