Too much is being focused on November the 5th from the media etc, people read this and get worked up to easily without knowing the whole story. It appears to be happening more, working class people jumping on other working class people because they have some dispute with working conditions or pay etc.The Police are lazy and no good,to Tanker drivers on 35k a year to Firefighters. If the strike does go ahead, just be sensible on bonfire night, don't get drunk and start sticking fireworks in ya **** crack and lighting them etc..
As i heard it they were due to have some meetings to discuss the situation ON the 5th , but choose to strike instead ,
why ?

Public sector workers are bearing the brunt of the cut backs brought in by this goverment to resolve the mess this country is in. I am on a two year wage freeze considering what the HM forces are doing world wide this in very unfair. Is it any wonder the fire Service who put their lives online to save ours feel this way?
You are the reason we have a massive deficit!
I'm sick of subsidising your existence mate.
You should be grateful you have a job or move to the private sector (always hearing how public sector peeps could 'so easily' get more in the private sector).

My experiences of the Firemen (at least round here) are that they are useless.
My wife had a tree get hit by lightning and land on her car, despite the fire engine being there quite quickly it was members of the public who took charge of the situation ... the firemen and firegirls were stood around awaiting the arrival of their 'boss' before they did anything!
I arrived a few minutes after the event only to see them completely unorganised .... spending too much time discussing Health and Safety to be any good - a chocolate teapot comes to mind!
And to think they are paid £32k for doing bu99er all is annoying!

Mind boggling isn't it?
99% of their time is spent on second/third/fouth jobs (whilst being paid for by us!!!!) - sleeping or messing about playing pool and playstation games!!
I would be surprised if a fireman saw 2 fires a year ... and will only see a big dangerous one once in their career!!
Retire at 45 on 2/3rds pay ............. they're taking the pi55 in all honesty - sack them all and employ them on contracts where we pay for when we need them ... let them do their other jobs and we will call on them when we need assistance, and pay them for what they actually do.

Think again dip****. My mate was a retained fireman and has, among other things, helped to cut more dead bodies out of crushed cars than you would ever want to have to do. He used to get called out with alarming regularity, to real and either dangerous or unsavory incidents.
Now I don't know about you, but I'm happy in the knowledge that there are teams of emergency service personel sitting ready for action if I ever need them - not knackered because they've been busy all day.
Anyway, its about time that we binned "bonfire night" anyway anywhere other than in organised displays

Its both of course, its a paid job and they have a duty to save lives and put fires out!
I treat it the same as being in the Forces. Yet again a paid job and the deal is that if you do go to war you are expected to risk your life as well of course. When you are not actually risking your life you spend the time training to do all that sort of thing more effectively!
I have of course had a good deal of experience of life up to 2010 and it serves my personal judgement pretty well I reckon.

Health & Safety rules seem to prevent Firefighters from risking their own lives to save others.
As mentioned in post above they're striking because they're being sacked for not changing their contracted hours.

On one occasion a truck driver lost his foot (amputated on site) due to a bad decision by a fire chief. The practices they worked to was just sadly very inept. The fire chief I would say was incompetent in his duty to this guy and if it wasnt for myself and a workmate intervening he would have lost his lower leg and maybe his life.
