Scoobynet should clamp down on threads like this that could do damage to companies reputations

If a well respected poster came on with concerns about a company with evidence that would be different
I'm not sure how slander and libel laws work for posts on the Internet

We already have rules regarding this kind of situation and unless the OP comes back with evidence VERY soon, the thread will be locked with a final message detailing that the supposed complaint has no evidence and discussions about the OP will take place.

We can only clamp down on these if people let us know - there are WAY too many posts for us to be able to see them all.... RTM all the way.

Enough directionless dialogue.............

Name and shame so other Subaru owners on here avoid that garage/individual person.

how many mods are on scooby net ??

i agree with people letting the mods know of any posts that may cause offence or issues but i think personally as a paying member it's not too much to ask for the mods to look at all the threads posted as a matter of course

ie

say 4 mods, split the thread titles/sections between you and keep a regular check on them, would take a maximum of 5 mins each time you log on

Moderators aren't the Scoobynet Police. We're forum members asked to help apply the rules as posted by the Site owners. We're unpaid volunteers and do not have the time to check every single post by every single member of this Forum.

This is a social site where people help each other, if you see something wrong you let the people who can deal with know - you know: just like in day to day life.

ok i see your point

i was under the impression you would have been paid sorry (starts to wonder were all the monies taken in go )

but if you have the power to lock threads and make sure the rules are followed you are policing them and are not just normal forum members

I personally don't like the word 'Police' in these circumstances (being picky I know) - we are just normal forum members with a few extra buttons to click (any time spent on the forum is split between mod schtuff and just reading / replying

Aaaaaanyway.....

back to the original point: Where's the evidence? This thread will be locked soon if none is forthcoming.

Just been on scooby works website and according to the link below they charge £180 to fit 3 gauges, centre or A pillar pod!!! Seems reasonable to me.. certainly not 13 hours.. they say generally 4 hours to complete.. that equates to £45 per hour!!

hi all, I can personally vouch for the OP and this situation re overcharging.

The OP is new to SN. He has limited internet access and is not the best with computers, I am about to txt him to get his butt on here and provide his evidence.

This is a genuine complaint and although it has nothing to do with me or my car, it sadens me that he has been treated in this way by the company in question.

At no point was he told how much the work would cost and like a genuine customer he paid up...Cash !
The OP then called me for advise. I advised him to take the matter up with the company and join SN to share his concerns.

I am not involved in this matter at all but felt I should post up and explain/clarify a few points.
Trust me the OP is probably one of the nicest and genuine chaps out there (which probably didnt help in in this situation).

regards H

Then he needs to put up or shut up.

IF he does have a genuine complaint, we would expect him to scan in his bill from PS detailing work done and how much paid.
At the moment, he's not being taken seriously by the majority on here, who KNOW and respect PS, since he seems to be ducking any questions we ask, just ranting.

As Alcazar says...we need to see the scanned invoice detailing what was done, and then we can make our own minds up.

I know the OP has not provided any information to back up this claim...but PS aslo have not rushed forward to defend/put it straight... so silence swings both ways remember

perhaps we should start a thread for flocking insults

anyway at this moment in time i'm waiting to see this proof, still can't get my head around someone actually parting with the cash to take their car back

Its gonna be interesting to see a breakdown for sure. It was said that he paid and only later checked the breakdown. TBH if I went to get my STI and found a bill for over £1500 waiting for me I would spend the next hour going through it item by item to see how they came to that figure...

I'm not saying the OP is wrong.. just that a little hard evidence goes a long way

Unfortunatley I can see how someone with little or no technical ability can get recommended to go to experts and when presented with a large bill think that is the norm (after all we are all told Subaru's are expensive to run). I for a fact have left repair places feeling slightly unsure if I have been 'done'. You are still unsure until you get a second opinion - then you realise what a muppet you have been!! I'm sure an old garage I used to use used to bump up the price by £50 on each bill, each time I went there. I'm also convinced I bought at least a couple of lambda's that I never needed (at £150 a time).

Thank god I have a mate who has set up his own garage now and I can trust him 100%. I also get to watch / learn to do stuff so I'm not quite so useless after all.

Fair comment mate, I got my service bill last week @ £225.00 inc vat and thought it was pretty good. AT the end of the day we have to be guided by specilist garages and within reason take what they say on face value. Saying that however I would get an estimate before getting any work done... that way at least you know ball park what the final bill will look like
