Is this quoted or what you've been charged?

Took me a couple of hours to fit boost, oil press, oil temp and AFR

13 hours.. im sure you could have done them yourself in that time! doubt a garage would take the job on if it took them a full day!

If it's the usual compliment of Boost, oil pressure and oil temp located on top of the dash in a pod, then I believe a 2-4 hours labour would be much more like it!

13 seems very excessive!!!!

Gulp, sort of depends on how the car was presented. If the car went in tip top and no problems were encountered WTF were they doing for nearly 2 days money !

Took me a full day to do my three, BUT: there was lots of thinking and checking time, plus plenty off coffee breaks.

About 8 hours in all, but only about 3-4 if you know what you are doing and just work at it.

Even the most incompetent moron could fit in half that time. IMO you have had your pants pulled down!

**** me You could take up a college course in re-wiring and mechanics and do it quicker than that Shouldnt take a compitent garage any more than 2.5hrs to fit 3 gauges, unless problems occur.

I have just been charged £185 plus vat (5 hrs) for fitting 3 genuine Defis, the Advance link plus oil sandwich plate.

Seems reasonable.

Cheers

When I bought my car I got a receipt for the purchase and fitting of 3 prosport stepper gauges in with the service history, it didnt outline the cost of purchase and labour, but I think the gauges are around 50 quid'ish each... and the invoice total was £450!!!

Previous owner must have been mental

If you were only charged £5 per hour then the 13 hours isn't too bad

I fitted a set of Defi's to my old car in about an hour and half using a sandwich plate for the oil temp and pressure.

Wiring couldn't be easier, all can be connected to the radio wiring harness if you know what does what, 2 minutes on the web sorted that out.

I once fitted my own gauges with some mates. It took us nearly 9 hours

I think the problem was that only one of us was mechanically minded, the other was electrically adept and then there was me

It only took me about 3 hrs to swap a V5 dash, including a tea break.

I am about to do gauges and there's a guide in the General Technical Archive. Looking at about 2 to 3 hrs.

Lol, if that's true that's even better (worse) than the 13 hours for 3 gauges

The trouble with these sorts of threads is they lack one thing.. The other side of the story!
