CAN be made. However conclusions seem to stem from emotions and subjective opinions. Look again through this thread and it might become clear.

I can't see any sidestepping from the side which is using logic. I love these threads
...or maybe not.

This only comes about when people start threads saying "and this will get the happy clappers choking on the communion wine. What do you expect? Christians will naturally share there side and oh, suddenly we're arrogant and ignorant plus quite a few other insulting words down the line.

How many threads are there that start off "I received a word from God today" or "Praise Jesus I received saw miracle"?

Awww, lol.
Just brilliant, love all this. Not long ago I was told that "god was going to judge me" now that was a cracker. I worship the holy pencil case anyway, your god is false and all who oppose worship of the holy pencil case will be smote.

Very few. In fact, zero. But I put that down to there being:

1. No instances of either occurrence.

2. Certified lunatics being prevented from having internet access, along with sharp objects and Napoleon Bonaparte uniforms.

Partly because I enjoy Philosophy, Theology, Astrophysics and debate and partly because I object to stupidity and enjoy expressing this via the medium of Snet.

Ignorance and unconsidered rhetoric 'get up my nose' or, if you'd prefer, thick people talking ****.

I don't have one, simply a position. In the mean time I propose you go and read Karan Armstrong's A History of God. You'll need a dictionary.

Probably because in their hearts they know it's simply not true and would be too embarrassed to?

If God told you to murder children, would you?

But surely there is a 'WWW Theology showdown site' or a 'Take on the Pope and the Archbishop at their own game' type site where the intellectual heavyweights would normally strut their stuff?

Mind you,in 6 years I've noticed Scoobynet is a hotbed for Religious discussion,House prices,Muslim extremists and mortgage multiples.

Is there any other site that is so passionate about this subject

Still funny though

And to add, the bible states that god has killed thousands of first born children. If someone said that God told them to kill children, would theists believe him/her, or would they believe the killer was just complete nutso? Besides, why worship such a vengeful god?

It's Jesus of Nazareth, The Rabbi, The Master and The S(u)on of Man that brings forth The Good News in The New Testament. With caution, I'd go with most of what he preached (love thy neighbour and turn the other cheek could get hairy if they had a ruck sack and a deathwish). (St.) Paul (who probably suffered from TLE) put his spin on his message and The First Council of Nicaea (AD/CE 325) hacked the truth about to establish a unified Christendom.

The God concept of the Old Testament was savage and Jesus Knew it. Unfortunately Constantine muddied the waters as did King James 1300 years later. A metaphoric, pantheistic, poetic, conceptual, Spinoza inspired God of The Enlightenment? No issue here. A literal, theistic, imminent, transcendent God inspired by Paul and The Nicaean Creed? Come and have a go and bring Yahweh with you!

I personally wonder why so many atheists feel they have to insult those who say they believe in a God!

You've said that about a dozen times over the course of this thread, Leslie. Do you intend to read The Grand Design?

Christmas has nothing to do with God.

It's all about stuffing yer face, boozing and seeing who can get the crappiest present.
Arguing with the family, burning the turkey and stomping out the house in a huff.

THAT'S Chrimbo.

Religion my ****.

Same God, old/new testament. Fair, just and loving. There are second chances and forgiveness in abundance (loving). Usually Gods wrath is on those who go against him, but usually not with out several warnings (fair and just). Anyway who is to say that this still does not go on but just not attributed to God.

There was an incident not long ago where a certain natural disaster took place many many people from other religions were wiped out, many Christians were on a hill at the time and were fine. This sort of thing is not widely publicised, why, maybe as not to offend or maybe because they cant prove that it wasn't chance. Its a shame as once you start to piece these 'chances' together, where Christianity is involved things seem to look a little less like chance.

Thats just what Ive noticed and my thoughts anyway.

Could you please let us know which incident it was? There's no reason to hide it, after all.

Because of fruit cakes like srsport

God protected the Christians up a hill - my ******* ****

but it's a top secret - God doesn't want the non believers to know of his mysterious ways.

Still - it's the closest I've come to pissing myself on Scoobynet for a while

And I'm still waiting for SRSport to answer my question about how he first found his God.

I'm interested if like Hawking he's has some misfortune and is trying to reconcile it through God (rather than science).

But he doesn't seem to want to face up to this "challenge".

Just another example JTaylor.

He has to resort to that kind of thing because he has no argument or proof to the contrary. Very revealing however!
