funny, except that I had drained the "sealed for life" transmission fluid instead of the engine oil

that was a long weekend -- but turned out OK in the end
I had an experience like this many years ago,i drained the oil out of an old landy on the ramp, lowered the ramp and stared to fill.

10 pints later and thought id dip it and nothing on the stick so 5 more and still nothing.
Then i looked down at my feet and realised that oil was just starting to seep from under the ramp,oh s**t id left the sump plug out
What apillock

you have to remember - if you work for someone else, you take the **** and they take the money. When you are self employed, you get to keep all the money (and all the ****..... unfortunately)

Hmmmmm.... Pet hate of mine. People moaning about their feckin jobs.

Simple, don't like it? Then change it

In today's climate, be thankful you have a job and get on with it and do your best.

I've worked for the same employer for the last 18 years and it amazes me the amount of people who have been there nearly as long (and some longer!) who moan about their work

If you ain't happy ....then do something about it (or try a year out of work and see if that makes you more appreciative) rather than moan all the time

I am fecking sick of mine now, the recession has not been kind, i have been working stupid hours, for next to **** all.

And now i am getting hassled because "they" think we should be doing more volumes, the basis for this judgement is the fact that my two most local sites, are both increasing, what "they" don't seam to care about, is that both of them have had busy retail parks built next to them, they are increasing, why am i not?
Within a 2 mile radius i now have 3 new competitors

Working on an exit strategy at the moment, i was given the phone number of a competitor yesterday, called over last night to have a look at the site, awesome, much bigger, recently refurbished, much better equipment and rough figures so far are that it is possibley doing nearly twice as much volume as the one i am at now.

Turns out they are looking for a new chap to run the site, so just left a message on an answering machine

I have always wondered why so many bosses feel they have to be so unpleasant to the work force. Do they feel they themselves have a lack of personality so have to use their position to hammer the workers, or that constant criticism will improve results.

I always found with my crews that if I praised them for good work and told them straight if I reckoned they needed to do better and above all remained on a friendly basis, that the results were always better. In my job we always had to act as a team and if someone got it wrong that let everyone else down. It also meant that I had to get it right as well of course. I have to say that I was always lucky with my crews, they were all consummate professionals.
