My 30th is coming up and I really want a nice watch from my parents. They said they'll chip in £1000 towards the cost and I can 'top up' with my own cash.

I tried on a large (middle size) Omega Seamaster at a jewellers today. I absolutely loved it! Was in the window for £1280. I asked for a discount and they said they can do it for £1160 which is a 12.5% discount. Is this discount quite good?

Just thought I'd post on here to get some other ideas.

I don't like very chunky watches at all, so anything apart from those types! Prices with suggestions would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks

Nick

So why is the OP seeking validation on a public forum?

He's not seeking validation, he came on looking for thoughts and suggestions.

Instead, he gets a bunch of c nts accusing him of being attention seeking and vain, one of whom has a username which is attention seeking and vain

He wasn't seeking validation, he was asking opinions on various brands and prices. There are quite a few knowledgable watch people on here so makes sense to see whether he's getting a good deal or not.

When I bought my first watch Yoza's info was invaluable, when I bought my first scooby 10 years ago I got great advice also, lot less numpties on the forum then

Going to Cuba for 2 weeks next Friday so don't really need another holiday!

Mitch269 - how would you go about getting the discount from a store up here in Newcastle?

Thanks,

Nick

It's all marketing. Opinions are derived from that.

Perhaps he's doing the same as you?

You're not clever and, more importantly, not funny - so why don't you just f*ck off!

What relevance does that have to your statement that the OP is seeking validation?

I would say 10% is a good discount.

For a birthday present i would get a "classic" watch, something that will look good for many years. My choice is this

http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=1&pid=545

A Tag Heuer Carrera with bracelet. Its what i wear most days. A classical design that will never go out of fashion. Nice size, not too big or small.

That is a nice watch, however, I think it looks a little dated for my tastes. I prefer a more modern looking watch. I totally understand the aging thing.

Thanks for a constructive post though!
