you are a jammy sod getting away with that cockup at the exit section of kallenhard, i've seen cars on their roof doing what you did. Very empty track, which is nice.

I stopped timing and filming my laps many years ago, Nurburgring do ask you not to film your laps and have done for a long time now, so it would be sensible to not post them up if you want to continue to use the venue.

Yeah, I was very lucky there.

They dont seem to make a big deal of it now as they have found it difficult to police. I have seen quite a few cars on TF with blatant camera setups and they dont stop those guys. Mine is reasonably well hidden and I cant see them tracking me down next year after surfing scoobynet, so will continue to do so.

How many laps have you done now ?

My 'stock-ish' TD04 car in the ring vid did 265 BHP (atf) and 220 BHP (atw) on a Dastek rr today.

Not exactly the most exciting post but talk got on to nurburgring today and remembered the thread.

My very first trip and very first Lap of the Ring in 2002 and did about 10 mins B to G in a STD 2002 STi PPP

OK my time is slow and a Sh1te Lap with a shortcut at the Foxhole but I was taking it easy .

I only know the time because my mate Video'd it, I've been there 4 other times and done about 70+ laps but like all the Trackdays I don't like timing myself. I know when i'm driving Good or ****e.

Thread from the dead!

Awesome video!

I'm going in May and trying to decide if I should keep my hawkeye wrx...

I assume since this thread was made allot more people have done the ring!

I've been 3 times now
1st year 350z - 9:40
2nd year 350z - roughly the same
3rd year mk1 focus st170 - budget tyres/brakes - 9:50

Want to hit 9:2x next year though! And the WRX seems to be able to do this with some good mods!

What's everyone else's times/specs?

I am going again in May and will be pushing harder

Ties in perfectly with what I was saying about the real world and talent, everyone loves to quote stats but they don't mean **** all, quite often more power means harder to drive. A lot of people think they're losing because they don't have the power, what they are actually lacking is talent. It's the same with motorbikes.

All the gear, no idea.

I used to go R1 hunting on my slightly tweaked NC30 VFR 400 at Cadwell and around Matlock, the look on some of their faces back in the paddock at Cadwell was priceless, had a few come and check the bike out wondering what the **** I'd done to it, it would top out at a bit more than 160mph but it just had power everywhere, I was a half decent rider in my 20's but family and young uns put paid to my fatalistic attitude, no more bikes for me.

Who cares if they are getting the most of their car, so long as they are having fun. If you want to see how quick you are, go against the clock in a proper competition.

They do, hence they get upset when someone with less power is faster

The only person that seems to feel the need to tell us all our WRX's aren't capable performance cars is you and I think the vid shows otherwise.

The wrx has more power and grip than the majority of people have skill.

It seems like the extra power out of the sti is only fully usable by a small amount of people - and with the huge price difference between them it doesn't seem worth it to the ordinary person.

I'll probably get bashed for this but...
My daily is a blob wrx but my track car is a little mr2 roadster 138bhp and peoples faces drop when this little car goes round the track quickly especially as some big power cars fall victim to it.
I'm aware that cars are as good as the drivers and I've had my **** kicked by many a slower car on paper

To be fair there's a lot more to it than the power difference and the prices are coming a bit closer to one another these days especially if you don't mind the Bug looks, If you bide your time a Bug STI can be had for £5/6k even well modded Blob STI's can be as little as £7k, with quite a few WRX's being between £4/5k it's not such a big jump in price to find yourself in an STI these days, which if you have any interest in modding you'd be mad not to wait and pay the extra.

Only been once so far and did an 8:38 bridge to gantry using a borrowed engine that i couldnt use full throttle in 5th or 6th as it was overboosing. From memory it was running about 430bhp

will be going back next year and hope to get 8 mins or under

How fast can you get round the ring a good question but also one that depends on so many things, thats a great lap in the WRX but how many times do you only have to pass one car,as you all have seen on my near miss videos things can change so quickly on the ring.I had the pleasure of a lap in a m3 that did 7.45 bridge to gantry in traffic some thing that I could not even get near to in the Scooby but the cost of the m3 to my spec c is at least 3 fold so you pays your money and takes your wepon out on track so heres video from my hatch in traffic and about 8.40 btg Phil
ps didn't we do well fxxk me

Did 8:53 last year.

Car is bugeye wrx still running TD04 (probably 275-280bhp) with prodrive springs and ksport 8 pot brakes up front, brembos on rear. Vredestein Sessanta tyres.

Think i've done about 25 laps over the last 5 years of going, so still learning the circuit.

Ignore bugs on screen, i'd just driven from the UK to the Ring and pretty much straight out on circuit. And ignore the wobble at about 8 minutes in too

Totally agree with you James.
We know people that nigh on live there and are lapping in the 8:30 region in EVO's. Having also seen some of these laps and know people that have sat in on them, and they are 'BLOODY' quick.

I've been out 4 times now, and although I don't do many laps all mine have been 10:30(ish) and all within 10 seconds of each other regardless of time of day or traffic.

One also included an off/spin and a good few seconds stationary sweeping up the poo that came out. But this was still within 15 seconds of all previous laps.

However, with a little help from Sony Vega's I'm sure I can get the video times under 10 minutes (or less)
