It is rare you get to do a full lap as the laps the public generally get to do do not include the main straight.
Therfore, that spec C time at just under 8 min translates to something like a 7.40 BTG time so when you look at it in that context, you can see how low 8's are definately possible for WRX's.
He did it in a diesel Jaguar. Sabine Schmidt just failed to break 10 minutes BtG in a Transit van.
Many of the times posted here sound as though they were timed from Aremberg to the gantry: and would be more believable if that were so...

Get yourselves a Racelogic Performance Box for accurate and verifiable timing

lol. And also be careful as adding timing capabilities to cars can some insurers do interesting things should you have a crash with timing gear, and more often then not such equipment will cause you to have an 'incident' as you want to gain "one more second"..! Oh and trust me, ring crashes are not cheap
not even counting repairs to the old girl.I'm pretty sure I was around the 10 minute mark, as it was dry.
Laza

For all the doubters.

@ 03.36 you will see the mistake I made as turned in too early for MHM and hit the kerb. The mpv at the start, I thought had seen me and was letting me through but turned in.
Timing starts at 'Bridge' - 14 seconds in and ends at 'Gantry' which is at 8.32 seconds on vid.
Roadworks at 6.31 & 7.19 secs.
If this car was driven on a full clear lap by a pro driver I guess it would do ~8.20 full lap & ~8.00 BTG so would be some 20 secs slower than the spec C (which is a lot) - just to put it in perspective for you.

Ive been to the ring every year for the last 12 years in all manner of cars and unless you live there you wont get a standard wrx round in 8:20, i got a uk impreza turbo round in 8:45 and that was pushing every corner, bearing in mind after 12 years i still dont know every corner, the car had an electronic intercooler waterspray fitted, tein coilovers, big brakes, exhaust, was still standard ish but was set up correctly to avoid understeer, was done on yoko perada tyres and was about 30 degrees, after 12 laps starting around 9mins 8:45 was the best.
I did get held up at one point in an accident but didnt loose much time.
Doesnt matter what power your car has out there its knowing the track, i still get overtaken by the local boys in mk2 golfs, astras etc who are at the track most days, you think your pushing it then one overtakes round the outside, track knowledge is everything.

Your original post said just exhaust and remap
Anyway its a cracking time with the spec and sorry for doubting your times, just see so many made up times on forums... some of the times ive been there and seen the cars going round, to then see the BS times they have put up
How many laps have you done now ?

I have done 4 trips over there now and think it would be around 85-90 laps.
Agree with you about the times and that a lot are made up but wanted to prove that they are definately possible. I know the car would go much quicker in the hands of a pro driver - I make far too many mistakes with early turn in. The hitting of the kerb shows just that!

+1
Also his times are realistic as the track is without the main straight, It end just after Dottinger Hohe spot.
The pro tests as the spec c one had done full lap. Anyways, Alis lines were very good almost no errors, i bet the full lap time should be good as well.
keep us posted if u gonna improve your times buddy.
