ASTRA VXR!!! :(

So what have we concluded? Once rolling the vxr is likely to be quicker than a scoob, top end speed the vxr will do more?
from a standing start the scoob will leave it for dead up to whatever speed? On the twists the vxr falls short again? So....... What happens from a standing start on the twists? the scoob wins.. Maybe subaru should release a sti vxr. Instead of the cosworth sti?

As an adult I would't drive like a **** against another car on the road, BUT how on earth can a VXR beating a bug-eye ( eight years old ) be a "win" ?
Sorry, but whilst liking the VXR, it's a young 'uns car.
I'm quite happy with ( so far ! ) un-broken traction, and 400 bhp/500+ Nm.
dunx
P.S. If anyone near Leeds wants to scare me rigid, bring yer VXR down !

Nope, 5' 9", used to go to the gym, then got married with children and the stress made me think F**k that I'm having a burger.
Banter is all this argument can over be m8 as VXR's and Scoobs are for different markets.
The VXR is very fast in a straight line and potent in the twisties
The scoob is fairly fast in a straikght line and brutal in the twisties.
They both do one job extremely well and the other is a compromise, neither is better than the other.

A classic Impreza is 1200kg which must be way less than a lardy VXR. Standard STi will be about 230hp per ton which must thrash a VXR
TX.
Edit - 170hp per ton (apols if mentioned before!):

I already knew both were really good cars, what I have so far learnt from these threads, is both also have their fair share of total tools driving them..............as well as some good guys from both sides!! Sadly the total tools let us all down...............

FWD cars didn't fare too well at the 30-130 day which was a rolling start too!

isn't 50-70 times in 5th a good indicator of 'once rolling'? and are usually pretty accurate as there is no launch to perfect, just mash and go?
kudos to the the vectra vxr though, just about the same as the lotus carlton from 50-70 in fifth. The standard Wrx is 10s, i won't print the sti as it will be not 'real world' and be obviously wrong.

i have never been in a vxr but i can understand why there quicker then an old scoob, theres a lot of progression on cars since the classic imppreza's were first designed and made. don't get me wrong i love my scoob but a standard classic will struggle against a golf gti or a vxr. btw i don't drive like a pansie and can get a shift on, on track of course and still struggle against the new hot hatches due to the fact of transmission loss and big lag when starting.
i'll still have anything in the twisties though.

my dads harder than your dad....... im glad this thread is up, having only just moved from an astra vxr to an sti. the astra is now with my brother and as this seems to be a touchy subject about vauxhalls being rather good cars nowadays, we are planning on doing some 'real world testing' when we get off work for the summer. il get the results up and hopfully raise one or two eyebrows.
we all love our cars and slagging each other is just stupid. if you wanna slag each other join youtube and join the internet hard men and let the rest of us crack on.

..........but surely when people are saying VXR is quicker from a rolling start, they mean in the best and quickest possible gear from that speed................starting from a set-speed in a set gear would depend too much on gear ratio's etc.. and not be truly reflective of genuine rolling speed acceleration.
Accepted that the figures are impressive all-the-same........

So what we've concluded is, if we race to the Impreza's strengths then it will win and if we race to the VXR's strengths then that will win
glad we've got that sorted out now
