I must admit I do like the look of the VXR, I own a Astra 1.9 CDTi 150 XP as my daily runner and it's a fine steed. However I have on occasion come up against an Astra VXR whist out in my MY07 STi that has been breathed on by AndyF and it destroyed the VXR.
I would think a standard Astra VXR would beat a Standard WRX from a rolling start but not an STi.

Remember that all those powerful cars at the scooby shootout with 600+bhp didnt win the handling course, that was a near standard MY05 JDM car with no suspension mods
Use to remember all those nova's with calibre turbo engines under the bonnet (or even the 2ltr engines), they scared more than enough subaru's
There was always the lotus carlton, ah what a car

Power to weight is the key ... I've got a metro gti with a 160 bhp 1.8vvc engine in and it troubles a hell of alot of subarus and evos but higher up the mph it loses it's edges .... Still prefer my blob eye thow

All this tosh about vectra vxr's being quicker than a sti once rolling
Don't get me wrong they are nice comfy motorway cars i have even considered one for my commute but in no way can they compete with a mildy fettled sti once rolling. Who is the chap whos stating that once mapped they are monsters

The 335's are very tunable 400bhp, not a problem time is quicker than most subaru's can do it, damp surface at the pod, would knock a second off, but 13.7@105mph, faster than a type r terminal speed
Find one in the dry, probably find a good second off that time.

Clarkson on the VXR 'there is only one way to describe this car ... begins in s and ends in t .... and it isn't soot' '....This has got to be the worst chassis I have ever come across...'
Lol at the under steer.
