Tattoos

I have finally had a tattoo
A mate who is covered from head to toe said to me on Sunday "So, I hear your a man now?"
Wife reckoned I should have something small to start and she's had my name and a chinese symbol for a while now so thought I should do the same with her name etc. Didn't really hurt but the temptation to itch it has been far worse!
Changed my mind on the thoughts of earlier because the Imperial eagle looks a bit like a **** symbol. Quite liking this right now but add some black/yellow chevrons and I like those tattoos where it looks like the skin is ripped and its all robotic underneath.

I remember a couple years back me and Snazy were emailing with regards me doing him a design with a "behind the skin" ripped look. In the end he went with something different (which looks better).
I like those types if pieces as well as the coy jap pieces too. Hmmm, I could design myself one for each arm

Love it, very nice indeed.
Good memory Andy, im glad with what I went with in the end, probably the smarter of the 2 ideas for what I wanted from it lol.
I do really like this piece though, impressive stuff, first of many im sure now lol
(just re-read, is this yours or someone elses lol)

Hi Tony. There's a good tattoo parlour in Dewsbury, won quite a few awards. Not too far from you either. What about having your design on the forearm, visible when you want it to be and covered when you don't.![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

I live in West Wales. The guy who did my small one does seem to know what he's doing.
I would want it like the one above - as realistic as possible. He's drawn a design for the wifes foot so if it ends up looking like a slug on her foot and not a butterfly I'll know to go elsewhere.

Your right. I'd rather the cables and biomech stuff than cogs and circuit boards. I'll see what sort of job he makes of the wifes foot first. He's done a few here and there for her but nothing what I would call complicated.

Would be great to get some thoughts before I commit to this.
So the design I want is a clock face like the one on the attached link;
http://www.castit.ie/data2/classic_b...ew%20image.JPG
I want it to show my sons name & date of birth. I'm thinking....
The numbers (roman numerals) about 2/3rds the size of those on the attached with the hands 2/3rds as thick
My sons name top middle (under the XII) in an arc, classic style writing following the shape of the outline of the clock? - any thoughts on position of the name or style of writing etc
My sons date of birth would be bottom middle - again, any thoughts on position, style of writing (DEC 08, DEC 2008, roman numerals etc)
Lastly, colours. I'm looking at black and grey shading. Should it be a 3d type effect, flat etc
Any thoughts would be apprciated.
Cheers

This may be a clearer idea of what I'm after if you imaging that my son is called LONDON & his date of birth is ENGLAND ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Smaller numbers though and possibly the dial more like the first picture that I posted

Black and grey for sure, and would have to be a white face with black/grey numbers, or you will end up with a blob on your arm.
Is that all you are having, or is it being set into something that will compliment it? I would go flat, not 3d

Just having that unless I can think of any improvements . . . been trying to make sure I take time to get it exactly as I want it before I have it done.
By white face, do you mean white or skin colour? I hadn't actually thought of having the face coloured to be honest! Just black outline/numbers with some grey shading

Thanks trails. I'm 97% sure I'll get it on my shoulder and go as big as that lets it go. Your not the first person to say that small is not the way to go ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I have said I'll give it 3 months before I get it done to be sure it's how and where I want it - looking to get it done in c.6 weeks now.

Definatly agree that sometimes you just have to have a big piece to make it work. I would say minimum 4-5 inches across. 6+ if you can.
yeah by white I just mean no colour, using your skin tone for the face and the numbers darker.
Cant wait til August to get more done on mine

It would be 5" (round
) if done on my shoulder - which looks big enough to see the important (to me) detail.
Going to call a couple of artists over the next day or so to see what they think.
Cheers

You mean 5" diameter yeah ?
Just checking. Should look pretty good

Would definatly talk to the artist about something to compliment it, or give it a way to look more natural there.
