I'm thinking about getting a dragon done. Problim is the art work (I can't draw) and the size of it it would be major bucks.
Oh yeah, my current 1, at the top of my leg. Shocked a few people as apparently I'm not the sort ot have 1.

I have nothing against them but like private number plates they can sometimes indicate someone trying a bit too hard, I know that it wouldnt suit me, one thing though, being a similar age to you and male also, anything you do now people will call a mid life crisis motivated activity, I say sod that, dont know why if you are a bloke of a certain age that is always cited as the cause, like when someone buys a sportscar people say its a mid life crisis, perhaps its just when the bloke could afford it or could practically do it as the kids are older !
I would want a temporary one that lasted a few months to see whether I got bored or started to resent it being there, like becoming a tranny, you have to live as a woman for a while

I have these, 1 on each forearm - the dragon was from the shop, but I couldn't find a tiger, so I drew that myself and the tatt guy traced my picture. I've actually done a couple of back murals for people waay back.

lol possibly, but I probably break much easier
The tattoo idea is sounding good though. you just have to decide colour, or black and grey, and the other details. But all in all it sounds like a great piece and well thought out.

Unless you opt for your shoulder or upper arm, there's not really alot of other choice. Unless of course you spend alot of spare time topless and in shorts.
Only other area that could be worth considering, again not really obvious, is slightly lower down on the back of your neck (not too low down, but low enough that it wouldn't be seen in your work clothes).
You need to be comfortable getting it somewhere that you can live with, and work out what is most important, seeing it or it just being there as the dedication that it is.

Fair play mine was temporary in that it was supposed to last up to 5 years, but it didn't quite work out that way. Got it done when I was 16 and almost 12 years down the line and it's barely faded. It's possibly held up better than a normal one would have.

The thing I like most about tattoos is the fact they should be induvidual to the person getting them. I don't follow the rigour of picking a design from a book and saying "want that one". Tweaking a previous design (as in Hysteria's case) or doing your own custom jobby is what I prefer - being a dab hand with a pencil mean't I designed all my own and tweaked them to suit me.
Haven't had one done for nigh on 7 years now though

My last one is only an outline, but he drew it just for me and I like it. I have a rose on one shoulder and this little dove on the other one. I have been fancying another one for ages, but it hurts like stink as I always want one where there is a bone quite prominent

I've been pondering getting one for ages, but keep putting off because I'm a big wimp.

Only thing I've ever really wanted was Megatron - or something Warhammer 40K. Either the Imperial Eagle with something like "The Emperor Protects"
Or maybe this but much smaller with something like "Burn the heretic" underneath.
No not yet. Wifes got quite a few now but they aren't as complicated as Megatron. I could probably trust the dude to do the Imperial Eagle or the Inquisitor badge.

Before you commit to anywhere, check out their work, maybe even watch them work etc. Cartoon pic or not if the line work is bad it will look crap! Lots of people claim to be able to do this sort of thing, only a few really can.

This is the problem. Its all very well writing some childs name on your body and a few stars. Its much more to do something and have it absolute spot on.
This is my wifes sisters friends tattoo.
